Most graduates joining CGI usually take on technical roles. These are predominantly in the areas of Public Sector, Space, Defence, Energy & Utilities, National Security and Cyber Security. These roles are suited to those inter ested in programming, development and testing.

We also recruit some business graduates, who will typically join us as junior service delivery managers and business analysts. We hire these roles into business areas such as Banking & Financial Markets, Energy Utilities & Telecoms and Technology Operations.

If you’re a student looking for valuable hands-on experience to set you apart from the crowd come graduation, look no further.

A 12-month industrial placement with CGI will help put your theoretical knowledge into practice, and give you a competitive advantage over your fellow students, making you more attractive to employers. It could also mean that you leave the programme with an offer of employment from CGI when you graduate.

Most of our industrial placement students come into technical roles, typically as testers or developers. Occasionally we offer business roles too. No matter which role or part of the business you join, you can be sure you’ll be doing real work that makes a real impact.

We are working with the Environment Agency to digitally transform the way floods are forecast across the country.

We provide the systems that process 1.5 billion fuel card transactions and manage $100 billion in fuel card payments per year.

We designed, built and operate the Police National Database used by all UK police forces and containing over 3.2 billion records.

We are the data services provider for the rollout of 53 million smart meters in the UK.

CGI provides protective monitoring services handling more than 76 million cyber events every day in our security operations centres.

This could include webinars relating to soft skills training, or a workshop on communication skills. You’ll also have opportunities to take part in e-learning as well as face-to-face training.

Of course, starting a career isn’t just about developing skills – it’s also about making connections. To help you meet people and

build your network, many of our offices have student communities and other groups (like our Sports and Social Club) that regularly organise social events.

We also strive to minimise our impact on the environment and make a positive difference both in our communities and in the lives of our members. We do this through initiatives such as Green Week, community volunteering and school partnerships, and through Oxygen, our health and wellness programme for members.

What we are looking for We’re looking for graduates and students with a background in IT or computer science. We’d also like to hear from you if you’re studying a STEM degree, as long as you can show an applied interest in computing or IT outside your degree in your application.
