Dear Readers,

I express my gratitude in thanking all the stakeholders for their continued support & encouragement to Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC) in its mission to inspire the youth of this country & make a career for themselves in the ever-growing Beauty &Wellness industry.

While we are meeting this on-going challenge head on collectively as a nation, it is heartening to see that constituents of the Beauty &Wellness ecosystem are so proactively involved, both in their individual and organisational capacities.

It is my firm belief that the Beauty & Wellness industry will gain even more relevance as we approach the new normal, post pandemic. This outbreak is a stark reminder of the fact that timely investment in preventive healthcare and wellness makes oneself more immune to virus outbreaks like this.

In this present era, vocational education &training for skill development has to become an integral part of our general education system, that should lead to establishing new relationships between education, the world of workforce and the community as a whole.

At the outset of 2021, B&WSSC is geared up to achieve new milestones of bridging the gap between Industry and Academia by upscaling, working with new schemes, building capacity of trainers, outreach various job roles across the nation and working in tandem with the industry to fulfil its demand through better employability.

I would like all our readers to help us improvise, add value to build the skilling era of Beauty & Wellness industry, create more impact so that the trained resources can be utilised in a more effective & efficient way.

I urge you all, as responsible citizens to continue maintaining social distancing to stay safe and help others to avoid the spread of this pandemic. Stay positive, practice yoga and meditation for overall well-being.

NEW NORMAL PRACTICES ADOPTED BY BEAUTY & WELLNESS SECTOR SKILL COUNCIL AFTER THIS PANDEMIC HIT!

During this period of pandemic, Beauty & Wellness Sector has come forward more prepared and well TechEd. Coming through and along the situation of pandemic, B&WSSC has realised the importance of preparedness at all times.

INTRODUCTION OF DIGITAL TRAINING FOR TRAIN THE TRAINER/ASSESSOR PROGRAM

This period of lockdown where people were stuck at a point, B&WSSC together worked on the new model for training and successfully has come up with the New Training of Trainer platform which is experienced as more engaging and poised. B&WSSC has started the series of getting this Training of the Trainer program on going with the help of learning and technology. New training process with upgraded Training manuals for domain training and soft skills has been prepared in house and has been duly vetted by our industry experts.

DIGITAL PLATFORM FOR LEARNING AND CERTIFICATION- SKILLED

ONLINE RPL ASSESSMENT PROCESS ROLLED OUT TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF PANDEMIC ON CERTIFICATIONS

B&WSSC developed an online digital platform where students can understand the concepts more clearly and can always revisit the module for job roles: Assistant Beauty Therapist and Beauty Therapist.

This blended learning program would teach the theory component of the job roles with videos and illustrations to the students, making sure that the concepts are drilled well in them. This would give access to a standardised format of teaching for those students who are in remote areas. The hands on practical will be done at their respective centres maintaining the social distancing norms.

B&WSSC has rolled out new RPL assessment process which is performed digitally. B&WSSC first of its kind digital platform was witnessed by Urban Company. This Certification was successfully completed and has opened way for more such Online RPL certifications for Beauty and Wellness professionals.

ONLINE ORIENTATION

FOR TEACHERS:For the first time B&WSSC

introduced an online orientation of RSMA school teachers for 8 states:

Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Himachal

Pradesh, Nagaland & Puducherry in association with PSSCIVE Bhopal.

More than 200 teachers attended the orientation

program.

E-SKILL INDIA (LMS PORTAL BY

MSDE & NSDC):B&WSSC enabled the up-skilling

of the Indian youth through online learning videos on Hair Care & Hair Styling by one of the best in the Industry on the E-Skill India portal of MSDE & NSDC.

These learning videos are absolutely free of

cost.

SUCCESS STORIES AND MEDIA COVERAGEMy Name is Neha Jaiswal. I used to work at a salon but I was not satisfied with my work and wanted to improve my skills and coincidentally I saw a portfolio of a student from ORANE, liked her work and thought of giving it a try. I opted for a 4 month DHD course (diploma in hair designing) at ORANE.

After completion of my course , I got an opportunity of doing internship at Orane and then joined there as a junior HAIR Faculty . Working at ORANE polished my skills and now they are giving me a huge opportunity to work as a manager and hairdresser at Linora Salon in Uganda , Africa on an yearly package of 6.3 lacs.

I am really happy and blessed to be a part of Orane family and Beauty & Wellness Sector Skill Council for being the facilitator for awarding me this certificate. They helped me a lot in achieving my dreams.
