    Far Land on the Beach at the Herring Cove Beach bathhouse in Provincetown is pleased to bring back sunset music nights for another summer season.   • Ranger-led Activities

    South District Programs - Programs located in the South District of the seashore are highlighted in yellow. These programs are located in either Eastham or Wellfeet. Plan for travel times and seasonal traffc. For additional information on these programs, call the Salt Pond Visitor Center at 508-255-3421.

    Afternoon Birding for Beginners - 1 hour, 1 mile. Discover the joys of birding on a ranger-led walk to varying locations. You will learn the basics of bird identifcation and investigate some of the wide diversity of birds on Cape Cod. You will also gain experience using feld guides and listening for birdcalls. No experience required. Binoculars and feld guides supplied. No reservations necessary, but call Province Lands Visitor Center for meeting locations. Mondays at 5:30 pm. No program August 27.

    Art in the Dunes Hike 2 to 3 hours, 2 miles in loose sand. On this long hike into the Province Lands dunes, view frsthand the quality of light, natural environment, and isolation that have long attracted artists and writers to Provincetown. You may have the opportunity to meet an artist-in-residence at a dune shack. Reservations required and accepted no more than one week in advance. Call Province Lands Visitor Center to register. Wednesdays at 4 pm. No program July 25.

    Atwood-Higgins House Tour 1 hour. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to visit the interior and grounds of this authentic 18th century full-Cape house. 269 Bound Brook Island Road in Wellfeet. Reservations required and accepted no more than one week in advance. Call Salt Pond Visitor Center to register. Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11 am. No program July 4 or August 16.

    Beach Apparatus Drill Reenactment - 1 hour. $6 for adults; $4 for seniors over 62 and children 7 to 17; children 6 and under are free. Pay on arrival, no reservations necessary. Listen for the keepers command, Open the boat room doors! and return to the early 1900s when shipwrecks were common along Cape Cod shores. Watch uniformed surfmen fre a line from a cannon to a ship in distress and labor to haul the victim to shore. Children attending may join in some activities and earn a Junior Lifesaver patch. Meet at Old Harbor Life-Saving Station, Race Point Beach in Provincetown. Thursdays at 6 pm.

    Big View Hiking 2 hours, 3-4 miles. Join us for an energetic, cardiovascular hike to some of the most majestic ocean and bay views in the national seashore. No reservations required, but call the Province Lands Visitor Center for directions to trailhead. Sundays at 9 am.

    Bird Walk 2 hours, distance varies. Joined a skilled birder at various sites in the park for bird identifcation and observation. Bring binoculars if you have them. Meet at Salt Pond Visitor Center, Eastham, to caravan to selected sites. Mondays at 7:30 am.

    Bombs and Blackouts Talk Up to 45 minutes. Join Ranger Dana Eldridge to examine the impact World War II had on the region. Hear his personal stories of the detritus of war washed upon the beaches, Coast Guard patrols, target practice, and torpedoed ships. Meet on the observation deck at the Marconi Station Site, 195 Marconi Station Road in Wellfeet. Reservations required and accepted no more than one week in advance. Call Salt Pond Visitor Center to register. Thursdays at 2 pm. No program August 16.

    Campfre: Herring Cove Beach - 1 hour. Enjoy sunset on the beach and an evening of folklore, music, and games around the campfre. Bring a beach chair or towel to sit on. Meet the rangers on the beach in front of the large bathhouse and concession area, just south of the beach entrance at Herring Cove Beach in Provincetown. Accessible with assistance: please notify Province Lands Visitor Center in advance. Fridays at 7:30 pm in July, 7 pm in August, no program August 31.

    Campfre: Nauset Light Beach 1 hours, mile. Join us for an evening of fun as we gather around the campfre for stories, songs, and activities that tell about the nature of Cape Cod and its rich past. Bring a blanket and insect repellent, but please leave the smores fxings at home. Meet in the parking lot at Nauset Light Beach, at the intersection of Ocean View Drive and Cable Road in Eastham. Wednesdays, 7:30 pm in July, and 7 pm in August.

    Canoe Trip: Salt Pond Paddle 1 hours, 1 miles. $23 per adult, $18 per child 16 and under (minimum age 6). Take a leisurely paddle in the protected waters of the Salt Pond and nearby area of Nauset Marsh to explore its beauty and diversity. Meet at the Salt Pond Visitor Center amphitheater in Eastham.     Cape Cod Ninja Warrior, Season 4, Ninja vs Ninja 1 hour. In the spirit of the popular television show American Ninja Warrior, tackle our Race Point Beach family-friendly, low-lying, obstacle course in the sand. Run, jump, carry, and problem solve to best your time. Compare your athletic abilities to those of the U.S. Life-Saving Service, predecessor to the Coast Guard. Reservations required and accepted no more than one week in advance. Call Province Lands Visitor Center to register. Sundays and Fridays 10 am. No program August 26.

    Cape Cod: The Land, the People, and the Place 1 hours, 1 mile. How has human interaction with the Capes environment changed over the past 400 years? Explore fora, fauna, and geography, shifting energy uses, and transportation modes while enjoying beautiful views of the historic Pamet Valley. 111 North Pamet Road in Truro. No program August 3 or 24.

    Discover Nauset Marsh Walk 1 hour, up to 1 mile. Take this easy one-hour walk to discover some of the intriguing stories and features of this scenic and both naturally and culturally signifcant area within the national seashore. Meet on the terrace of Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. Tuesdays at 2 pm.

    Dune Views Over East Harbor Hike 2 to 2 hours, 1 miles in loose sand. Climb atop a parabolic dune to gain 360 views of ocean, cranberry bogs, harbor, and Provincetown. Discover the story of how the harbor was turned into a lake, then back into a harbor. Meet in the bike trail parking lot at the end of High Head Road, off Route 6, in Truro (stay left and continue on the dirt road). Fridays at 10 am.

    Evenings at Salt Pond Visitor Center 1 hour unless otherwise noted. Authors, performing artists, historians, and scientists will offer insights into seashore resources and stories.     Old Harbor Life-Saving Station Open House - Beach fees apply. The U.S. Life-Saving Service was a federally commissioned group of professional rescuers, which became the Coast Guard in 1915. Built in 1898, Old Harbor is the last intact life-saving station of the original 13 of Cape Cod. Park at Race Point Beach in Provincetown and take the short walk to Old Harbor. Daily 2-4 pm.

    Old Harbor Life-Saving Station Tour 1 hour. Learn about the U.S. Life-Saving Service and day-to-day life in the station. These brave surfmen were the predecessors to todays Coast Guard. Bring a chair if you'd like to observe with a ranger from the parking lot, or join a ranger on the beach for a short stroll. Bring a fashlight, and dress for cool weather.     Plein air Painting at the Seashore - The Eastham Painters Guild will be out plein air painting at various Cape Cod National Seashore locations this season and will have their artwork on display in the exhibit room at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham during July and August.     Ranger on Deck - The decks of the Province Lands Visitor Center offer amazing views of dunes, ocean, and their inhabitants. Join a ranger to look for whales, birds, and historic buildings from the deck or to explore new topics of the rangers choice. Meet at Province Lands Visitor Center in Provincetown. Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, drop in between 34 pm. No program August 25-26.

    Ranger-led Evening Program 1 hour. Join a ranger for a family-friendly illustrated program on one of the many fascinating natural and cultural resources of the national seashore. Check with the Salt Pond Visitor Center for this weeks topics. Takes place outdoors in the amphitheater at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. (Bring bug spray and fashlight.) Fridays at 7 pm. No program July 20, August 3 or 24.

    Roadside Plants and Their Uses - 2 hours, 1 mile. You might be surprised by the abundance and diversity of roadside plants, and the many ways that they have been used for food, medicine, and dyes. This program will include a walk along pavement and trails, during which we will investigate some commonly overlooked plants of Cape Cod. Province Lands Visitor Center, Provincetown. Mondays at 11 am, no program July 2 or August 27.

    Seal Scout - 1-2 hours, 1-2 miles in loose sand. Join marine specialists to look for seals, which may be hauled-out on a sandbar at low tide. Learn appropriate wildlife viewing techniques so as not to disturb the seals. Reservations required and accepted no more than one week in advance. Call Province Lands Visitor Center to register. Most Wednesdays. Program is subject to tides; see calendar for exact dates and times.

    Seashore Crafts - 1 hour. Join a ranger to learn about some of the fascinating things you may fnd at the seashore, like horseshoe crabs, seals, lighthouses, and lifesavers! Make a craft to take home and remember your visit. Meet at Province Lands Visitor Center in Provincetown. Saturdays at 3 pm.

    Sharks and Seals: Cape Cods Dynamic Duo Walk 1 hour, up to 1 mile. Examine the relationship between sharks and seals and the role they play in the balance of a healthy marine environment. Bring a pair of binoculars for seal viewing. Meets at Coast Guard Beach, at the end of Doane Road in Eastham. Reserved parking. Call Salt Pond Visitor Center no more than one week in advance to reserve a parking space. Thursdays and Saturdays at 10 am.

    Small Fry Special Activity hour. Children, bring your parents to the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham for seashore crafts and stories. Geared for ages 2 to 5. Thursdays at 10:30 am.

    Snorkeling - Discover Underwater Worlds 1 hours. $15 per adult, $11 per child 16 and under. Minimum age is 10. Experienced swimmers only. At least one adult must accompany children in the water. Explore the amazing underwater world of Cape Cod waters. Locations vary between a freshwater kettle pond and saltwater harbor in Truro. Reserve at www.recreation.gov (24 hours); search on Cape Cod National Seashore, Tours and Tickets; or call 1-877-444-6777 (10 am to midnight). Reservations required and accepted beginning at 10 am one week in advance of the program date. Wednesdays and Fridays at 3 pm. No program July 25.

    Soundwalk - 1 hours, 1 mile. On this ranger-guided walk we will listen carefully to often-overlooked natural sounds, including birds, insects, wind, and waves. Learn to make a sound map and practice making your own recordings of sounds you hear. You can also bring a recording device (a smartphone or a digital recorder), although the ranger will bring a microphone, headphones, and a recorder that you may use.111 North Pamet Road. Take Truro Center/ Pamet Roads exit off Route 6 in Truro. Proceed 1 miles on North Pamet Road to the end. Meet at the trailhead parking area below the youth hostel. Wednesdays at 4 pm. No program July 25 or August 29.

    Surfcasting 101 1 hours. $20 (minimum age 12). Learn the basics of saltwater fshing and practice the skill, but dont expect to bring home supper! No fshing license required. Meet at the Coast Guard station, Coast Guard Beach, at the end of Doane Road in Eastham.     Symphony at the Seashore, featuring the Cape Symphony -During this free outdoor Three Sisters Lighthouses Tour 1 hour, mile. These 1800s lighthouses once provided concert, well take a trip to Broadway, highlight Hollywood blockbusters featuring national a beacon for sailors off the shore of Nauset Light Beach. Come and learn of their history park locations (think John Williams!), and celebrate our nation with heart-stirring patriotic and importance. Meet at the northeast corner of Nauset Light Beach parking area at the songs with musicians and singers from the United States Air Force Band.     Take the Cape History Challenge! 20 minutes. Take this fun, hands-on challenge, and try Tidal Flats Foray 1 hours, 1 mile. $6 per adult, $4 per child 16 and under. Get your feet to identify curious bits and pieces of Cape Cod history. Come meet the park historian, Bill wet as you explore the abundance and diversity of life in an intertidal zone. Wear footwear Burke, and get updates on what's new with the seashore's old stuff. Meet at Salt Pond Visitor (required no fip-fops) that will get wet. Meets near the breakwater in Provincetown.
