Symptoms

Stems thin, leaves erect; early defoliation of basal leaves

Broad Bean Plants Phosphorus deficiency

Symptoms

Young growth deformed, young stems and petioles wilt and growing points die; leaflets near growing points fail to expand, distorted and hooked, and tips die.

Broad Bean Plants Calcium deficiency

Symptoms

Pods deformed, wilted and blackened; seeds fail to develop.

Broad Bean Pods and Seeds Calcium deficiency

Symptoms

Central intervenalchlorosis, margins green

Broad Bean Leaves Magnesium deficiency

Symptoms

Internodes short; leaves dark brown marginal scorch and margins curled forward

Broad Bean Shoot Potassium deficiency

Symptoms

Brown lesions in centers of cotyledons, similar "Marsh Spot" in peas

Broad Bean Seeds Manganese deficiency

Symptoms

Stems somewhat stiff; growing points die and lateral growths develop from bases of shoots; leaves slight intervenal chlorosis

Broad Bean Plants Boron deficiency

Symptoms

Growth dwarfed and thin; leaves pale green and older leaves yellow and die early

Dwarf (French) Bean Plants Nitrogen deficiency

Symptoms

Growth dwarfed and thin: leaves dark, lustrelessgreen, older leaves turn brown and shed early

Dwarf Bean Plants Phosphorus deficiency

Growth dwarfed and thin; stems, petioles, pedicels and pods wilted; early defoliation.

Dwarf Bean Plants Calcium deficiency

Symptoms

Pods wilted and deformed; seeds fail to develop

Dwarf Bean Pods Calcium deficiency

Symptoms

Older leaves chlorotic mottling, followed by general yellowing and brown necrotic spotting.

Dwarf Bean Foliage Magnesium deficiency

Symptoms

Dwarf Beans Leaf Potassium deficiency

Symptoms

Stems abnormally thickened; longitudinal splitting of epicotyl; death of growing point; leaves some chlorosis.

Dwarf Bean Plants Boron deficiency

Symptoms

Leaves strong chlorotic motting

Haricot Bean Plants Manganese deficiency

Symptoms

Brown lesions in cotyledons, similar "Marsh Spot" of peas

Haricot Bean Seeds Manganese deficiency

Symptoms

Growth stunted and thin; leaves pale green and older leaves yellow and die early; stems and petioles tend to be tinted red

Runner Bean Plant Nitrogen deficiency

Symptoms

Leaves pale green, tips and margins of leaflets chlorotic patches and brown spots

Runner Bean Leaves Calcium deficiency

Symptoms

Leaflets slightly pale and striking intervenal necrosis

Runner Bean Leaf Magnesium deficiency

Symptoms

Leaflets curled backward; intervenal chlorosis and brown marginal scorch; scorched margins curled forward.

Runner Bean Foliage Potassium deficiency

Symptoms

Leaflets intervenalchlorotic motting

Runner Bean Leaves Manganese deficiency

Sym[ptoms

Brown lesions in cotyledons, similar to "Marsh Spot" of peas.

Runner Bean Seeds Manganese deficiency

Symptoms

Leaves intervenalchlorosis beginning at margins, followed by brown necrotic spotting

Runner Bean Plant Manganese toxicity (soil acidity complex)

Symptoms

Intervenal chlorosis and fine necrotic brown spotting.

Runner Bean Leaves Manganese toxicity (soil acidity complex

Symptoms

Stem thickened and stiff; growing points die; leaves slight chlorotic mottling

Runner Bean Stem and Leaves Boron deficiency
