Bright Bear, Klausand Ida go to Germany

May 2009

Page 2: Bear

Ida, Klaus and their dad are going to Germany to see Ida’s Grandma.

Ida is tired after nursery and she sleeps on the train to the airport.

Page 3: Bear

Ida’s dad Uwe holds me too. I feel very safe.

Page 4: Bear

Before we fly, Ida had some Pizza and Apple Juice in the airport. Her dad ate most of it!

Page 5: Bear

We went on a plane like this. It is called Airbus 319. But this is only a picture.

Page 6: Bear

Ida and Klaus each needa passport and a boarding pass to fly.Ida’s passport has no picture.I don’t need anything.

Page 7: Bear

I don’t like tolook out of the window,it is so high above the earth!

When we arrived in Germany in Soest we were very tired from the trip.

The next day I lookedaround in Soest, it is an old, sleepy town with nicechurches.

We stayed in the house of Ida’s Grandmother, Gundel.

I like this shelf of hers – lots of books and things to explore.

Page 11: Bear

I also went into the garden. Can you see the German bee? I saw how it collected pollen in the yellow flower!

Ida, Klaus, and Juliana played a game with eggs.

Klaus liked his new football cards.

Page 13: Bear

Ida’s brother Klaus went climbing. He had to wear a helmet and was always on a rope! Axel, Ida’s uncle, was almost falling down! In the background is Anna, Axel’s girlfriend.

When Ida’s dad was small, he played here. Not a very nice sandbox, our nursery has much better ones to offer.

Page 15: Bear

We also saw the house where Ida’s dad and her grandmother lived thereafter. The new owners still have rabbits in the garden.

Page 16: Bear

I tried to fly with a kite, but I’m too heavy, so Uwe let me fly alone. I was feeling a little dizzy!

As a teddy it does not hurt when you land. As a person it does though.

We had lunch in a German Pub which is called “Steinkiste” – stone box. The chips and ketchup are the same as in London.

You can alsosee Axel, Anna, and Katrin, Ida’saunt and Juliana, Katrin’s daughter. Katrin is pregnant.

Page 18: Bear

After lunch and playing Ida got very tired and had a nap - on the floor.

Page 19: Bear

Axel, Ida’s uncle, is a clown. He likes to make grimaces. He brought us back to the airport.

Page 20: Bear

Nonna Gundula gives me a goodbye cuddle.

She will move from Soest to Berlin in three weeks.

Ida calls her “Nonna”, Italian for Grandmother, although she is a German grandmother, which would be an “Oma”.

Page 21: Bear

We need to take the motorwayback to the airport, that is straight ahead! Can you see that in Germany people drive on the right?

Page 22: Bear

And finally …

(Otherwise it would have been my best trip.)

Page 23: Bear

… Ida forgot me in the airplane backin London. She needed to go to the loo so quickly. Uwe had to go back and get me with the help of a steward.
