Bears Nest is an exclusive gated community located in a serene 46‐acre
enclave in northern Bergen County. Originally designed by noted
architect Eleanore Petterson, who apprenticed with Frank Lloyd Wright
at Taliesin, the site plan incorporated respect for the landscape and a
design aesthetic that is both unusually innovative and functional. In
1985, architect Pettersen, created the first phase of 76 English village‐
style townhomes in the midst of rolling hills and 100‐year‐old trees,
which were largely preserved.
The village atmosphere at Bears Nest is achieved, in part, by integrating
into the hills, clusters of homes joined by curving streets and antique
bronze lampposts, all within a spacious, natural woodland setting.

The park and clubhouse provide a gathering place for parties,
entertainment, and cultural events throughout the year.
The 6,000 square foot clubhouse accommodates a wide variety of social
events, including parties hosted by residents, and features a spacious
dining room, stone fireplaces, a pub‐like bar lounge, a great room, and
a fully‐equipped commercial kitchen.
The clubhouse also houses a billiard room, library, game room and a
fully equipped fitness center, with lockers and saunas. In addition, yoga
and exercise classes are available for interested residents.
Outside the clubhouse is a courtyard, patio with barbeque and seasonal
food concession, pool and hot tub. The Village Green Park features a
putting green, bocce court, and a pergola for outdoor concerts.
