Our Students

Katarzyna Wroblewska HND Beauty TherapyKatarzyna (Kat) Wroblewska didn’t know that starting a part-time evening class six years ago would culminate in a top honour from West Lothian College and the title Beauty Student of the Year. Since starting her studies Kat has successfully achieved an HNC in Complementary Therapies and an HND Beauty Therapy with an A Pass in both Graded Units.

I’m thrilled and proud to be West Lothian College’s Beauty Student of the Year, I have enjoyed studying at the college and I’ve had great support. I started to study six years ago and there have been lots of challenges along the way. I also had to work hard on my English and I have two young children. However, I have proved that if you have lots of ambition you can overcome challenges and achieve all of your goals. I’m so happy to be a fully qualified beauty therapist and I’m working full-time now in a job that I really love and West Lothian College helped me achieve this. The Beauty lecturers have been a great help in me being successful during my time studying.

The College is successful because we attract students who want to improve employment and career prospects.

Fionn Boyle NC Make-Up Artistry

Make-Up Artistry is a great course because I get to try and explore new techniques using make-up. Classes like make-up trends, special effects, character make-up and wigs and postiche allow me to portray my creativity to the best of my ability. The lecturer’s skills and experience are great in helping me achieve my potential in the course. Overall, I really enjoy my class and I believe aids me in having a successful career in Make-Up Artistry.

Clare Todd Hairdressing

Returning to College was hard, I wasn’t sure if it was the right thing for me to do. After starting my course in hairdressing I quickly realised it was the best choice for me and I have really enjoyed studying at West Lothian College. The tutors are excellent and they are always on hand to help with any problems or advice that the students may need.

Our StaffBeauty therapy, hairdressing and make-up is managed, run and taught by industry professionals, with a wealth of experience in running, managing and working in salons across the UK. Our lecturing staff utilise the modern and spacious teaching salon at West Lothian College to train and teach the next generation of beauty therapist, hairdressers and make-up artists.

Platinum SalonDuring your studies with West Lothian College, you will have the chance to work within our modern salon and spa, Platinum. In doing so, you will gain real life experience of working in an operating salon, helping to improve your customer service and overall beauty and hairdressing techniques. The salon offers everything from waxing to facials to hair colouring.

Salon ReadyFrom NC to HND, West Lothian College know the importance of helping our students to be prepared for working in their chosen career. We have excellent links with industry, ranging from small companies to large multi-national employers based across the country, who support West Lothian College students with placements, additional training and seminars. This is reinforced by the fact that many of our students progress onto employment and often return to college to study part-time or evening courses fully supported by their employer.
