I love the theater at Christmas. I'vebeen involved in theater for so manyyears now I've lost count, but my favor-ite time of year to do a show is Christ-mas. It's almost a tradition for me tospend the first two weeks in Decemberat the theater getting into the Christmasspirit. I've gotten to spend the last threeChristmases here at RLT, and I hopefor many more. This show is very special to me formany reasons. One- I love this story. Ithink the message of this story- learn-ing to accept and love others in spite oftheir differences- is one of the most im-portant things we can teach our chil-dren. With so many examples ofbrokenness in the world, this storyteaches us to focus on the beauty.Next- anytime I have the opportunity towork with young ones my heart is hap-py. I absolutely love getting to knowthem and watching them bond or see-ing them in that moment of successwhen they really nail their performance. They make me laugh out loud andmore than I should probably admit- cry.Really, I cry so much over these kidsand how proud I am of them. And last, Ilove this theater. It never ceases toamaze me at how much time and effortRLT folks will put in to make a show thebest it can absolutely be. Every bit ofwhat you see is a team effort and theproduct of hours and hours of work. To my husband Nathan, I love youdesperately. Thank you for staying athome with the kids while I "play". Thankyou for understanding that I'm not thefullest expression of myself if I'm notcreating. Tina, thank you so much foryour tireless efforts on behalf of thistheater show after show. You never liketo be in the limelight, and that's ok, butthe world needs to know how wonderfulyou are. Suzanne, thank you again for

agreeing to helm the backstage cra-ziness. Somehow you have the abili-ty to remain graceful in all situations. You make me laugh, and you calmmy soul. There is no one else likeyou. Jessica, thank you so much forworking to teach note by note, lineby line and to get it just right. Youroptimism and energy make rehears-al fun, and your ability to read mymind and just know what I want isvery helpful! Amie, I'm so blessed tohave you on my team. You havesuch a gift, and I am thrilled that youchose to share it with us. To thiscast: you are beyond talented. I amblown away at how much of your-selves you've given to this produc-tion. You've been with me everystep of the way, doing every sillything I've asked you, forgiving mewhen I change your blocking overand over, and singing your heartsout while I yell at you to smile :) Theaudience is in for a treat, and youare the reason. I hope you are asproud of yourselves as I am! To theparents, thank you for trusting us
with your kids and for allowing me topush them and love them. And thankyou for all the volunteer hours youhave put in. We've asked a lot ofyou this time around, and you'vefilled up those sign up sheets! Toour audience, we do this for you. Ofcourse, we have fun doing it, but atthe end of the day our goal is to giveyou the experience of live theater. Ifwe can make you feel something,we've done our job. What you are about to see is not a"Christmas show". There's no men-tion of Christmas anywhere. I hopeyou won't leave thinking of it as a"kids show" either. Yes, the cast ismade up of children aged 6 to 18,but they've worked as hard as anyadult cast and are just as talented. This is an "everyone/anytime show"with a great message and somecatchy tunes. We hope that youleave with a new memory, traditionor even just a smile. "Be Our Guest"and enjoy the show.
