DERMATOLOGY FOR DENTISTS
Dwight Weathers, DDS
Many dermatologic diseases are seen in the mouth, either independently or in conjunction with the skin presentation. Also, patients see their dentist more frequently than any other health care provider. Thus, dentists have a unique opportunity to see dermatologic conditions and diseases frequently and early. The dentist’s familiarity with the skin presentation of these diseases may simplify diagnosis of an oral lesion or aid in the corroboration of that diagnosis. Early referral to a dermatologist can save the patient from difficult, disfiguring treatment and even death.
This session will be conducted by showing the manifestations of various, common, important and interesting skin lesions and conditions and discussing the characteristic features of their presentation.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the completion of this program, the participant will be better able to:
n List a series of dermatologic diseases.
n Develop a habit of looking at the dental patient’s exposed skin.
n Improve the dentist’s diagnostic abilities of oral lesions.
n Improve relationship with patients.
Agenda - Day 1

FOUNDATIONS FOR PREDICTABLE RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
Jay Smith, DDS
Dental implants and esthetic dentistry have evolved into integral elements of contemporary dental practice. This session will highlight case planning from start to completion. We will begin with some practice management concepts of case presentation then progress from the single missing tooth to complete edentulism. Sequencing will be presented illustrating the foundations for success.
Conventional restorative concepts along with implant solutions will demonstrate the many ways that we help our patients. Practical information regarding material selection, adhesives, and the type of restoration will be presented so that we can develop a clearer understanding of the evolving field of dentistry.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the completion of this program, the participant will be better able to:
n Relate simple concepts for patient marketing and case presentation.
n Develop anatomical soft tissue with implant provisional restorations.
n List the differences between single and adjacent implants.
n Gain a better understanding of which material offers the best option.
n List “pearls” to make practicing more efficient and profitable.
