How to help your customer buy the right loom for them

Questions to ask your customer:• Have you woven before?• What do you think you want to weave?• What kind of loom are you looking for?• Is space a consideration?• Does the loom need to be portable?

If your customer has never woven before, we suggest that they take a class first before buying a loom. They may find out during the class that they want to do a different kind of weaving than they first thought.

First Loom. The Cricket Loom is making so many friends of new weavers. It is super easy to assemble, warp and weave on. Everything is included with the loom kit. Available in 10” and 15” weaving widths. Many shops are using the Cricket Loom for their beginning rigid heddle weaving classes.

Variable Dent Reed

The Cricket Loom comes with an 8-dent rigid heddle reed. Also available are 5-dent, 10-dent, and 12-dent.

Cricket pick-up sticks are designed to fit perfectly between the sides of the loom. Available in 10” and 15” widths.

Flip Loom: our folding rigid heddle loom with two heddle capabilities.

Our Flip folding loom is a rigid heddle loom that is a step up from the Cricket Loom. It is available in 15”, 20”, 25” and 30” weaving widths. Love: the built in notches for the second heddle that comes with the loom. Super easy to thread.

Flip Reeds

When ordering a Flip loom, you can choose which reed you would like: 5-dent, 8-dent, 10-dent, or 12-dent. Variable dent reeds are available for all 4 weaving widths.

Frame Looms for kids

The Mini Loom Kit comes with everything needed to weave: 2 shuttles, weaving needle, beater, warp yarn, weft yarn, and the weaving frame

The School Loom was designed for kids. The loom has a built in stand that can be used on a table top or floor. The legs can also be folded into the sides and used against the table. Comes with 2 shed sticks and a weaving needle.

Other looms for kids

We designed the Cricket Loom for kids. For younger children, we like the 10” weaving width because the heddle is easier to manage. The loom has holes in the end to make it easy to clamp to the table.Table looms are surprisingly easy for kids

to use. To make it even easier, I like to tape two levers together so there are only two options to operate.

Kids love weaving bands on the inkle loom. As a Girl Scout leader, my 8-year-olds were able to warp the loom with assistance.

Pup Looms

The Wolf Pup is a direct tie loom, meaning that each treadle is tied to one harness. To lift 2 harnesses, you press on 2 treadles.

The Wolf Pup LT has jacks and lamms which means you can tie multiple harnesses to a treadle

Comes with the Wolf Pup. Can also be ordered as an accessory for any loom.

Baby Wolf

The Baby Wolf is our best selling loom. It is available in 4-shaft, 8-shaft, or 4 now 4 later. It has a 26” weaving width.Our 8-shaft is our most popular model.

All of the Wolf looms have a folding x-frame.

Mighty Wolf Loom

Our Mighty Wolf Loom, like the Baby Wolf and Wolf Pup has an x-frame. However, it comes with a high castle tray.Available in 4-shaft, 8-shaft, or 4 now-4 later options, the Mighty Wolf has a 36” weaving width.

Wolf Accessories

All accessories can be added later, but adding them to the initial loom purchase adds to the sale. Stroller, Trap, Sectional Beam, Height Extender, High Castle Tray for Baby Wolf and Wolf Pup.

What is a height extender?

The height extender can be installed on the any Wolf loom.

What it does: raises up the loom 2”

Recommended for weavers 5’6” or taller.

Order with the loom. If ordered later, the cost is higher because of longer treadles and tie-up cords.

The weaver will need to attach the height extender to the loom as we can’t ship it installed.

Standard Floor Loom

Our Standard Floor Loom is a heavier loom and can be a real work horse. It comes in many options: Low castle, high castle, 36” wide, 46” wide, in cherry or maple. It can be ordered as a 4-now 4-later or an 8-shaft loom. We do not have a 4-shaft option.

12 treadles can be ordered with the 46” weaving width.

Love: the knuckle joint so that the back beam folds up to the castle. The front and rear breast beams lift off.

Standard High Castle Loom with a double back beam

Our floor loom bench shown with optional bench bags. Our loom bench can be assembled flat or slanted. It can be adjusted in height from 19” – 24”. It is available in cherry and maple.

Standard Floor Loom Accessories

Add-ons for the Standard Floor Loom include sectional beams, double back beams, lamp holder, 12 treadles on the 46” loom (must be ordered with the loom. Looms with high castle trays have holes to receive an extension lamp, so a lamp holder isn’t needed.

Raddles can be ordered for all of your floor looms. A special bracket is needed for the Wolf beams.

Cranbrook Loom

Our Cranbrook loom can handle all of most difficult weaving situations: rug weaving, rep weave, sticky warps, fine linen.

Features: locking treadles, 4-now 4-later option, texsolv tie-up cords, worm gear, 16 ½” diameter warp and cloth beams, steel breast and back beams, steel knee beam, extended lammbox makes for easy treadling, adjustable overhead beater.

Available in 48”, 60” and 72” weaving widths with 4 or 8 shafts. Can be ordered with optional 12 treadles.

Cranbrook loom accessories

Sliding threading beach, tension box rail, suspended tool shelf, beater weight (adds 9, 11, or 13 pounds to the beater) sectional beam, double back beam, raddle, bench.

The Cranbrook loom bench is available in 3 widths for each of the looms. The top is adjustable in height from 24”-25”. It can be installed flat or slanted. Also, can use bench bags.

Our Tapestry loom is a simple frame loom that allows for a continuous warp. Warping is around a moveable beam that allows the warp to roll around to the back of the loom. It is shown here with an a-frame stand. But it can also be used with a trestle stand.

Our tapestry bobbins come in packages of 3. Our beaters are great accessories to sell with the loom.

Table Looms

Table looms are great for teaching and especially for sampling because the weaver can try different “treadlings” without having to mess with the treadle tie-up cords.

Table looms are available in 15”, 20”, and 25” weaving widths and with either 4 or 8 shafts.

Cardweaving cards are an example of how we looked at a need and designed a product to fit it. Our cards 3 ½” square, of flexible cardboard which makes them easy to use. Edge colors help track a card’s position. 25 cards per package

4 x 4 Zoom Loom

The 4 x 4 Zoom Loom is a pin loom that produces 4 finished edges. It is very portable and easy to take along. Finished squares can be sewn, crocheted, or knit together. Our website has many project instructions.

The biggest mistake in helping someone choose a loom is assuming they don’t have money to spend.

After listening to what your customer wants, suggest a range of looms with different price points that correspond to what they are looking for.
