Beek, April 2011 Dear SIAC friends, Below a brief impression of our trip to Schlierbach on 28 September- 3 October 2010. On arrival we enjoyed a pleasant get-together with something to eat and drink, and decided not to hold a congress be- cause there were too few parcipants. On Tuesday we began our 1st workshop on making fused glass. On Wednesday we connued by designing and then making a small window in leaded glass. It was really arduous work but the results were fantasc! We completed the windows on Thursday morning. Once we had filled the kilns with our works of art, we set out on an excursion. In the aſternoon we took a fantasc tour along the Danube. On the way we stopped in Linz to look at the “Pfarrkirche St.Konrad”. There was a splendid glass altar and font in the church. Also amazingly beauful was the glass window with the image of the resurrecon of Christ. All by the arst Maria Moser. Then a visit to Linz Cathedral. Elements of the old exisng Gothic windows have been incorporated in the modern stained glass windows here. All very special and inspiring! We returned homeward on Thursday evening. With so much good preparaon and fascinang informaon about glass fusing, it was disappoinng to learn that there was so lile response. And that even with such a super locaon! By way of this leer, I want to let everyone know that we will get together again from 9 to 13 May 2011 in the Abbey of Schlierbach. Here too to work on glass fusing. If you’re interested in coming, please respond ASAP by e-mail to; [email protected] The prices are the same as those for the congress in 2010. You can again be collected from the airport in Salzburg or Linz. Hoping for a fruiul “SIAC” workshop in Schlierbach , I wish you all the best and lots of inspiraon! Beek, April 2011

Dear SIAC friends, Below a brief impression of our trip to Schlierbach on 28 September- 3 October 2010.

On arrival we enjoyed a pleasant get-together with something to eat and drink, and decided not to hold a congress be-cause there were too few participants. On Tuesday we began our 1st workshop on making fused glass. On Wednesday we continued by designing and then making a small window in leaded glass. It was really arduous work but the results were fantastic! We completed the windows on Thursday morning. Once we had filled the kilns with our works of art, we set out on an excursion. In the afternoon we took a fantastic tour along the Danube. On the way we stopped in Linz to look at the “Pfarrkirche St.Konrad”. There was a splendid glass altar and font in the church. Also amazingly beautiful was the glass window with the image of the resurrection of Christ. All by the artist Maria Moser.

Then a visit to Linz Cathedral. Elements of the old existing Gothic windows have been incorporated in the modern stained glass windows here. All very special and inspiring! We returned homeward on Thursday evening.

With so much good preparation and fascinating information about glass fusing,it was disappointing to learn that there was so little response. And that even with such a super location!By way of this letter, I want to let everyone know that we will get together again from 9 to 13 May 2011 in the Abbey of Schlierbach. Here too to work on glass fusing. If you’re interested in coming, please respond ASAP by e-mail to; [email protected] prices are the same as those for the congress in 2010. You can again be collected from the airport in Salzburg or Linz.

Hoping for a fruitful “SIAC” workshop in Schlierbach , I wish you all the best and lots of inspiration!
