• A 30 second slot sold for $2.4 - $3 million, which are the most expensive in global television.

• Research suggests thatup to half of viewers in the US tune in specificallyfor the adverts.

Breaking Ground in 3D• Fans were treated to 3D

commercials for the first time.• DreamWorks' Monsters vs.

Aliens and PepsiCo's SoBe Lifewater featured the 3D commercials.

• The commercials required special 3D glasses.• The 3D glasses use new technology know as Intel InTru 3D and

ColorCode 3D, which replaces the old red-blue Anaglyph system. • One of the benefits of the modern system is that the images also

work in 2D without the the glasses.

• American Paper Optics produced over 125 million pairs of 3D glasses.

• The 3D glasses are distributed by PepsiCo through the SoBe Lifewater brand.

– "The last time someone has actually run more than a 60-second spot at the Super Bowl was when Nike did it in the mid-1990s. We wanted 90 seconds so we could take the time and try and tell a bit of a story."
