PSALMUS xxxvm (VULGATE)Verses 13 and 14

PSALMUS XXXIX (VULGATE)Verses 2,3 and 4

Et immisit in os meum canticum novum, carmen Deo nostro.

Videbunt multi et timebunt,et sperabunt in Domino.

PSALMUS CL (VULGATE)

Alleluia.

Laudate Dominum in sanctis Ejus:Laudate Eum in firmamento virrutis Ejus.

Hear my prayer, 0 Lord, and give ear unto my cry;hold not Thy peace at my tears.

PSALM XL (KING JAMES VERSION)Verses 1, 2 and 3

I waited patiently for the Lord;and he inclined unto me,

and heard my cry.He brought me up also out of an horrible pit,out of the miry clay.

And He hath put a new song in my mouth,even praise unto our God;

Many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

BEETHOVEN:

ODE AN DIE FREUDE

o Freunde, nicht diese Tone!Sondern lasst WIS angenehmere anstimmenund freudenvollere!

Seid umschlungen Millionen.Diesen Kuss der ganzen Welt!Bruder! Uberm StemenzeltMuss ein lieber Vater wohnen.Ihr stUrzt nieder, Millionen?Ahnest du den Schopfer, Welt?Such' ihn uber'rn Stemenzelt!Uber Stemen muss er wohnen.

Friedrich von Schiller

SYMPHONY NO.9

ODE TO JOY

o friends, no more of these sounds!Let us sing more cheerful songs, more full of joy!

Joy, bright spark of divinity,Daughter of Elysium.Fire-inspired we treadThy sanctuary.Thy magic power re-unitesAll that custom has divided,All men become brothersUnder the sway of thy gentle wings.

Whoever has createdAn abiding friendship,Or has wonA true and loving wife,All who can call at least one soul theirs,Join in our song of praise; But any who cannot must creep tearfullyAway from our circle.

All creatures drink of joyAt nature's breast.Just and unjustAlike taste of her gift; She gave us kisses and the fruit of the vine,A tried friend to the end.Even the worm can feel contentment,And the cherub stands before God!

Gladly, like the heavenly bodiesWhich He set on their coursesThrough the splendor of the firmament; Thus, brothers, you should run your race,As a hero going to conquest.

You millions, I embrace you. This kiss is for all the world!Brothers, above the starry canopyThere must dwell a loving Father.Do you fall in worship. you millions?World, do you know your Creator?Seek Him in the heavens,Above the stars must He dwell.
