Remember to read every day. It can be a story book, poetry book, joke book, a magazine, an online

story – it’s your choice!

You don’t have to complete all of the work

or worksheets I put on HWB in one day.

Spread them out and maybe complete 2/3

activities a day.

Ask your parents/carers to check their

Schoop messages as Mrs Teague is

regularly sending out lots of fun activities

for you to do at home.

Upload any pictures of work you have completed onto HWB for me to see.

It’s been great to see some of you having a go at the spelling challenge and even challenge others in your house! Remember if you practise a few times a week your spelling will improve.

Recount What has been your best day/activity so far? Write a recount all about it. You can share your news with everyone when we go back to school. Remember to include: • A title • Write in the past tense • Include lots of interesting detail • Time connectives: first, next, then, after that, finally,

eventually… • Order of events • Punctuation: capital letters, full stops, commas, exclamation

marks (!), question marks (?), speech marks (“abc”) • Set the scene: when, where, why, who with, what doing • Include a picture

Comprehensions I have added some more comprehensions on HWB for you to complete. Remember to read the information texts carefully before answering the questions. When you answer the questions try and answer them in full sentences.

Telling the time Last week we looked at reading o’clock, half past, quarter past and too, 5 minutes and nearest minute times. This week we are going to look at the seconds, minutes and hours. To read the hour time we look at the small hand. To read the minutes time we look at the big hand. To read the seconds time we look at the long thin hand that constantly moves around the clock, sometimes it is a different colour to the hour and minutes hands. Task 1: I would like you to sit with your parents/carers to practise reading the time on an analogue clock. Can you show them what 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock, 10 o’clock looks like? Can you show them where quarter past, quarter too and half past is? Can you show and count every 5 minutes (5, 10, 15…)? Can you show and count to the nearest minute on the clock? 23 minutes past 4. Can you show and count how many seconds have passed? If the hand was point at 4 - 20 seconds have passed. Task 2: I have put some worksheets on HWB for you to complete. Remember you don’t need to complete all of them at once, you only need to complete 1 a day. Just like in school we would only do 1 mental maths sheet and 1 maths sheet a day. Remember: Keep practising to read both clocks at different times of the day to your parents/carers.

Continue to practise all of the timetables. Maybe you could play fastest gun with everyone in your house!

Don’t forget you can practise these on J2Blas.

Have a go at counting forwards and backwards in multiples of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10.

Mental Maths: I have put a folder on HWB with some mental maths sheets for you to have a go at, but remember you only have 10 minutes to answer as many as you can. Don’t’ worry if you don’t answer them all first time, just keep practising and you will soon get them all done in time!

Compare and contrast I would like you to research all about the topics below in both South Africa and Wales then complete the table worksheet on HWB. After that I would like you to write 5 similarities and 5 differences between both countries. Topics include:

Climate Environment

Major

cities

Location in the world

Longest river

Famous landmarks

Houses/

homes

Food School

It’s lovely to see the photos of the work you have been doing at home on HWB. Here are a few for you all too see too:
