Before your event• Decide what type of fundraiser you want to hold: Chili
feed, book drive, etc.
• Decide what charity/charities your fundraiser will benefit
• Decide what types of giving methods you’d like to accept: cash, check, money order, credit/debit card and/or payroll contribution
• Find out who will be transferring your fundraiser in your agency’s fiscal office
• Acquire a Fundraiser ID # (if necessary)

During your event• Check with your agency fiscal office
regarding any internal cash handling policies
• Protect all donations at your event
• Protect yourself! Count all funds in the presence of another volunteer and document funds.
• Keep track of donations raised by type per charity

After your event• Convert all of your cash into a cashier’s
check or money order
• Download the FUNDRAISER EVENT FORM on the Volunteer Resources webpage
• Send both materials to your campaign leader for processing
