The Brussels-Capital Region wants to over-come the challenges of economical devel-opment through technology by stimulating innovation and the participation of citizens, businesses and academia.Boasting 700 Information and Communica-tion Technologies (ICT) startups, Brussels has a dynamic ecosystem and aims to be-come one of the leading digital reference cen-tres in Europe.Bedigital.brussels is the reference portal/brand for all digital initiatives in Brussels. At present, the government has set up the fol-lowing three tools, to promote its territory’s digital ecosystem :
- Smartcity strategy - The Regional innovation Plan : the
reference framework for the research and innovation policy in 3 strategic areas (ICT, health, environment)
- NextTech Plan : this plan aims to support and encourage the growth of ICT companies. Three key technological sectors are involved: the Internet of Things (IOT), virtual reality (VR), Big Data management and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
