Thanks, Teachers!
As we begin a new quarter of classes at Bell Av-enue, I want to thank those of you who have signed up to be teachers. Whether you’re a regu-lar or whether this is your first time in the class-room, enough can’t be said about how important
your role is. In fact, in 1 Corinthians 12:28, Paul explains that teachers have been appointed by God! While not everyone is capable, desirous, or spiritually mature enough to teach, those who are have a God-given responsibil-ity to make sure that what they say is in accordance with “sound doctrine” (Titus 2:1). Every day, we are besieged by the wickedness of the world. We see it on television; we hear it on the radio; we see it in the newspaper and on billboards; and now it also appears on our phones, tablets and computers. But when we enter the doors of the church building, it is a chance to temporarily escape the “wiles of the devil” and to be encouraged and strengthened by God’s Word. Part of that encouragement and strength comes from knowl-edgeable men and women who are willing to step up and ful-fill the will of the Lord in 2 Timothy 4:2 which says, “preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, re-buke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” So, to all our teachers at Bell Avenue – past, present, and fu-ture – thank you for diligently teaching week in and week out, and for doing your part in leading souls into a deeper and more intimate relationship with God. Your hard work, sacrifice, and servant’s heart does not go unnoticed! -Stephen
Bell Avenue Church of Christ Beacon Sermon Outline
Spring Cleaning (1) Philippians 3:13-14
Introduction: The months of March, April, and May are often a beautiful time of rebirth, growth, and moderate temperatures. One common practice for many people during this period of time is __________________________. However, before we start declut-tering, rearranging furniture, and dusting off the shelves, we’ve got to have a ____________________ for what we want to accom-plish. 1) ____________________ Vision
• From an early age __________________ wanted to be a
figure skater. She pursued this dream with passion, and even moved to ________________ to continue her training. On February 22, she won the _____________________.
2) ____________________ Vision
• When he was young __________________ had a propensi-ty for science. In his early teens, two defining moments shaped his vision for ___________________.
3) ____________________ Vision
• ___________________ was zealous about doing God’s __________________. That included the establishment of a ___________________, or body of people called out from the world. Ultimately, He __________________ for His vision, and the people He came to save.
4) ____________________ Vision
• Sadly, many _________________ close their doors each year. This is largely due to their lack of _________________ or purpose. If we don’t want to suffer the same ________________, we’ve got to do better.
Conclusion: At Bell Avenue, we don’t want to __________________ aimlessly. Like Jesus, we ought to have a natural _________________ in doing God’s will, and we ________________ a vision for how that will be accomplished in ___________________.
