The 2014-2015 year marked the inauguration of this innovative K-8 experience for students in east Greeley and beyond. Our vision - “Bella’s Family Tradition” - is that all students will graduate high school (at a minimum) and achieve their dreams. Students in The Academy are not labeled by grade level but rather identified by their year of high school graduation (for example, “Class of 2024”). Furthermore, we support students on an ongoing basis by visiting them in high school, analyzing their attendance, behavior, and achievement data throughout high school, and being present to congratulate them on the day of their graduation ceremony. Our commitment is not only to the students in Bella’s family, but also to the parents and other significant adults in their lives. We believe in the power of the school-home partnership and we work hard to build and maintain authentic connections with each family. The “Applied Technology” Advantage: At The Academy, we believe in applying technology to all areas of the student experi- ence. Tomorrow’s leaders must be “digital natives” – using varied tools and devices to excel in their profession. We have more than 600 student devices - a mix of iPads and laptop computers - that are used to enhance student learning. We are implementing an innovative approach called “blended learning” . This method uses specific computer software to help a portion of the class practice at individual levels, while the teacher works with other students in one-on-one and/or small group formats. www.greeleyschools.org/romeroacademy 4-8 Campus 1400 East 20th Street Greeley, Colorado 80631 PHONE: 970-348-2500 FAX: 970-348-2530 OFFICE HOURS: 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. CLASS HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:25 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL K-3 Campus Kim Clark [email protected] 970-348-1410 DEAN OF CULTURE 4-8 Campus Jenny Henriksen [email protected] 970-348-2511 ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL 4-8 Campus Lindsay Gentle [email protected] 970-348-2510 PRINCIPAL K-3 and 4-8 Campus Jon Cooney [email protected] 970-348-2509

The K-3 Experience:

Our K-3 campus is focused on building rock-solid foundational literacy and math skills in every student. We use high-quality, research-based curricula and we have dedicated, highly-trained professionals in every classroom. Teacher teams, instructional coaches, and administrators meet weekly to analyze each student’s progress. We celebrate positive growth and also swiftly make individualized adjustments if a student is not on the expected learning trajectory.

The 4-8 Experience:

Our 4-8 campus is focused on personalized education. Drawing upon their foundational academic skills, students are expected to take on a more central role in their learning. Courses are set up in a way that after students receive instruction, they will have opportunities to apply their new learning aligned with their individual level of understanding. Teachers work with students to set individual goals, track progress on a daily basis, and develop the skills they will need to succeed in high school, college and future careers. Students select elective courses in grades 6-8 (up to three each semester) to further enhance opportunities in their areas of personal interest.
