– Well defined, easy to recognize

• Functional Region – regions with a central point (node) that branches out from there to reach people near by, serving a function– Function could be business, government, etc– Strongest presence in the center– Weakest presence on the outer layers

• Examples of Functional Regions:– Commercial Appeal newspaper coverage base– “Memphis” metro area (City of Memphis,

surrounding counties)– Pizza delivery route– TV stations– Bus routes– School districts

individuals
