Pat Halleran Capt Halleran introduced the newest Belmont CERT member, Josh Katz. Capt Halleran discussed out two major events of the year, Silver Dragon and Disaster Preparedness Fair. o Silver Dragon will be on April 17 th and Belmont will be participating with Foster City and San Mateo. http://sanmateocountynews.wordpress.com/2012/03/07/county-simulates- mass-medicine-distribution-in-emergency-preparedness-exercise/ o The Disaster Preparedness Fair will be on the first day of the San Mateo County Fair (June 7 th ) and will probably last four hours, similar to last year http://www.cityofsanmateo.org/Calendar.aspx?EID=5081 . There are lessons learned from last year (no skills exercise indoors, signage, etc) that will be applied. There is also a possibility of a CERT booth running the duration of the fair with staffing from multiple city CERT teams. A 50 th anniversary tsunami drill will be held in Half Moon Bay on March 27 th . http://nthmp.tsunami.gov/tpw/tsunami-preparedness-week.html Guest speakers have been lined up for the next two meetings. February will be a speaker from Department of Animal Control http://smchealth.org/animalcontrol ; March will be someone from the SM County Coroner’s Office. http://www.co.sanmateo.ca.us/portal/site/coroner Capt Halleran asked if anyone on the team happened to be a pilot. The County is exploring the idea of establishing a Disaster Airlift Response Team that would utilize small aircraft to ferry in supplies to the smaller communities that could be cutoff during a disaster. http://www.southcountypilots.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=115&Itemid=9 Indications are that there will be an SFO Airport Disaster exercise this year. • Capt Halleran introduced the newest Belmont CERT member, Josh Katz. • Capt Halleran discussed out two major events of the year, Silver Dragon and Disaster

• The main event of the evening was a slideshow presentation on the topic of Wildfire Awareness. The ongoing drought conditions have kept our firefighters on alert for brushfires, even in the middle of winter!

o We need to adopt a summer mindset now.
