Move, Place and Pack Products...With Robotic Automation Systems fromBenda Manufacturing.

With thousands of installations worldwide, Benda Manufacturing (BMI) has been an innovator in product handling systems since 1986. Our deep expertise in both robotic technology and conveyor systems provides manufacturers a complete solution—one team focused on making each stage of your manufacturing lifecycle reach peak performance.

BMI’s Robotic Solutions Group is comprised of experts trained in 3D modeling; electrical, mechanical, and robotic engineering; factory automation; and lean manufacturing. We understand what needs to happen on the manufacturing floor in niche markets such as baking, meat/poultry, dairy, prepared foods, pharmaceutical, contract packaging, material handling, palletizing and high-speed packaging. Our systems and testing results are designed to meet industry standards, including USDA, FDA, 3A Dairy, BISSC and UL.

As your one-stop source for all things robotic, BMI works with your process team to identify the right product infeed, component infeed, End Of Arm Tool (EOAT), and outfeed solution to meet your production needs.

An early advocate of industrial robots, we’ve been a certified by major robotic manufacturers. All BMI’s handling and robotic solutions are made and supported in our Tinley Park, Illinois headquarters.

Is Robotics Right for You? BMI’s Robotic Solutions Group examines every detail of your manufacturing process and customizes an approach best suited for your plant environment. In fact, you actually “see” the robotic solution working with your product and its impact on your line in a 3D video simulation before your system is designed. If you’re considering integrating an automated solution, here’s why many manufacturers draw a direct line between robotics and greater profitability.

Robotic automation systems from BMI create cost-effective solutions at key points throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.

Lower Total Cost of Ownership Over time, the cost efficiency realized by robotic automation systems creates profit centers in material savings, scrap reduction, reduced errors, uptime, greater productivity, and repeatability. Improving your OEE is a key focus of our business.

Greater Uptime, Throughput and PredictabilityRobots work 24/7, increasing throughput, accuracy and consistency. A robotic system may tend multiple machines, configurable to handle multiple SKUs, reduce product gaps, and accomplish various tasks simultaneously. Robotic automation systems allow you to control the movement, placement and packaging of products.

Improved SafetyIndustrial robots lower the risk of back and arm injuries, lost-time accidents and exposure to contaminants, creating a safer work environment. Flexible automation easily maneuvers into tight or unsafe areas while handling and stacking small to large, lightweight and heavy cartons with ease.

Repeatability Means QualityRepeatability leads to a high standard of quality as reworking time and errors are dramatically reduced. Automated solutions allow you to predict, monitor, control, and adjust the manufacturing processes with a higher level of accuracy and precision.

Easy Operations and Diagnostics Robotic automation systems are easy to operate. Just press a button for start-up, shut down and pausing via a user-friendly interface. There is no special training or programming expertise necessary. BMI systems come standard with automatic fault recovery systems and automatic homing routines which allow the robot to intuitively detect where it is in space, and recover to home from there. Normal production is resumed—and all from just pressing the START button. Diagnostic intelligence resides inside the robot for fast and easy diagnostics and testing.

Data Acquisition Compliant CapabilitiesData acquisition software on the robot controller gives you extensive process and production information. An optional Ethernet connection allows customers to monitor process and production parameters. Automatic back-up and recovery systems and password protection systems provide uncompromised security and recovery options.

BMI Simulation Video: See Your Solution In Action

BMI offers a custom, 3-D video simulation that features the robotic solution in your facility handling your product and demonstrating your automated

advantages. Designed by our engineering team, the video demonstrates what your robotic solution will look like, how it will perform, and throughput metrics.

Technology Solutions:

» A pneumatic end-of-arm tool (EOAT) attached to a Fanuc 410-300 4 axis robot, picks up two pans worth of product at a time.

» The robot picks 144 muffins per cycle, 1152 muffins/minute, 69,120 muffins/hr.

» Productivity today remains steady at 1.3 million per day! BMI supplied the tooling that utilizes pneumatically operated stainless steel needles to pick the product. This eliminates unsightly holes in the finished muffin. After the product is picked, the tool changes centers to match the saleable container when placing the product.

Technology Solutions:

» BMI installed a palletizing system in a meat facility where the robot stacks up to 40 lb cartons of various meat products from 3 production lines to 3 pallet locations at the same time. The complete system included case delivery to the robot cell, empty and full pallet transportation as well as a complete control system to manage the palletizing cell.

» BMI provides technical expertise as well as utilizing the full resources Fanuc has to offer.

» The advancements in programming that include automated recovery and homing, diagnostics, standard programming languages and HMI simplicity, mitigate the 2 am phone calls for help.
