Services This Sunday's service will be a service of Holy Communion at St Peter’s at 10.30am. We look forward to hearing the bells rung again before the service. Many thanks to our Tower Captain Sally Veal and her band of ringers. We hope that you enjoy watching our online services, but due to the holiday period, we will unfortunately not be able to record our services or put them online for the next few weeks. We hope to resume putting services online in September. Please note we will continue to send out the pew sheet in the eco-friendly way we have been using during lockdown. A few copies will be left in church for visitors but the congregation will continue to receive the pew sheet electronically. We will make every effort to deliver copies to those who are not returning to church yet.

Praying for our Benefice We pray for:

• All those who have asked for our prayers and their families: Giles, Andrea, Jack, Hilda Murray, Jane’s brother Jon, Carol Crossley, Noreen and Martin, Morris, Alexander, Charlie, Elizabeth Weller, Brian Meen, Pat and Mary Gould, John Edwards and Lorraine, Andrew Garnham, Ian Baxter, Hayley, George and family, Daloni, Dick Peachey and John Bennett

• We pray for all couples who are to be married. We especially pray for Shaun and Tralee who were married at St Peter’s on 30th August.

• We pray for those who have died recently: remembering Peter Maxey and Rita Edwards.

• We pray for all who mourn the loss of a loved one. We also remember all those whose anniversaries fall at this time. May they rest in peace and rise in glory.

• We pray for all the people in the parishes of Great Barton and Thurston. • We pray for all migrants making dangerous journeys in search for freedom

and a better life. • We continue to pray for the people of Lousiana as they face weeks without

power or water following the devastating impact of hurricane Laura. • We pray for the work of Amnesty International. • We pray for the people of Lebanon as they struggle with an economic crisis

and the aftermath of the explosion in Beirut a month ago. • We pray for all those who were Ordained Deacon at St Edmundsbury

Cathedral on Saturday 5th September and all those being Ordained Priest on Sunday 6th September. In particular we pray for Susan Allison, Sarah Geileskey and Miriam Webb who are known to us, as they commence their ordained ministry.

Benefice Holy Communion at St Peter’s on 6th September at 10.30am Social distancing limits the numbers who can attend and you will need to book a place if you wish to attend the service. Contact details of those attending will be kept for 3 weeks after the service and given to Track and Trace if someone who attended later tests positive for coronavirus. We ask you not to attend the service if you feel in any way unwell. Face coverings are required by law to be worn in places of worship unless you have a legitimate reason not to. There are some valid exemptions, in particular, those who are leading services and those who assist them (for instance by reading, preaching, or leading prayer) do not always need to wear a face covering, although one should be worn especially if physical distancing cannot be maintained (i.e. distributing consumables). This exemption does not apply to worshippers, who should wear face coverings consistent with the requirements for any other public space. For those who are reading or leading the intercessions, please walk up to the front of the church when it is your turn. You can then remove your facemask and read / lead the prayers. Please put your facemask back on before returning to your place. It should be remembered that face coverings are mainly intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from coronavirus (COVID-19) and that they are not a replacement for physical distancing and regular hand washing. Hand sanitiser will be provided. Please observe social distancing of 2 metres. Seating in church will be arranged and there will be no singing during the service. More information will be given at the beginning of the service. If you would like to attend next week’s service of Holy Communion at Holy Innocents at 10.30am, please contact me on Tel. 07947 737789 or email [email protected] to reserve a place. God bless.
