About the Texas State TroopersAssociation

The Texas State Troopers Association is a voluntary labororganization of commissioned officers and retirees of the

Texas Department of Public Safety.The Association provides a number of benefits to its

members, which includes accidental death anddismemberment insurance, legal counsel and

representation in matters related to the good faithperformance of their duties as law enforcement officers,free preparation of a Last Will and Testament, advocacybefore the Texas Legislature, and financial assistance to

Troopers and their families in times of crisis andextraordinary need.

Free Last Will &Testament

The last will and testament service isoffered free of charge for every

TSTA member and his or her spouse.Our members typically take

advantage of this free servicewhenever a new member is added totheir families, but this is offered at

any time.

Free AD&D Insurance

Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance isgiven to the family of the TSTA member, and itgoes up to $4000. Whether it was on vacation or

while working on the job as a state trooper, as longas it is an accidental death the insurance pays, or it

is a dismemberment or loss of limb accident theinsurance pays.

Emergency Assistance

Flood waters from hurricane ruined their home. Electricitywas out and all their food ruined. Furniture, computers

& TV’s all ruined. Homeowners insurance covered some, butnot all--not motel bills or insurance deductible. TSTA

members got an immediate assistance check through theirmembership.

As a member of the Department of PublicService, state troopers are typically givenlegal counsel through the state, howevernot always. With the $25 dues, the TexasState Troopers Association will providelegal assistance regardless of whether or

not DPS will assist.The Texas State Troopers Association

works tirelessly to represent their members.TSTA works closely with senators and

state representatives to bring aboutpositive results for its members.

Legal Assistance andLegal Representation

Personal CounselMany situations arise in an officer’slife, both professional and personal.

They can be discouraging andstressful, such

as illness in the family or injury tothe officer. TSTA is here for you with

advice and assistance -just call.

Online Monthly NewsletterIf you are a TSTA member and have filled out an onlineprofile, it will be delivered straight to your inbox. You’ll

get unique articles and pictures about troopers andtheir families. Also included are DPS events, legislativenews, and courtroom criminal/legal analysis by veterancriminal Judge Larry Gist. Look for it the first week of

every month.

Membership in the Texas State TroopersAssociation is open to all commissioned officersof the Department of Public Safety, both currentand former. Annual membership dues are $25.
