“ 3I give thanks to my God for every remembrance of you, 4always praying with
joy for all of you in my every prayer, 5because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Philippians 1:3-5
July is what makes a summer busy in church life.
This month we will send off missionaries to Philadelphia & Haiti. We will begin VBS. We will continue with the “normal” weekly activities of our church schedule.
All these things well up a spirit of thankfulness in me. Thankful that Bereans support mission work. Thankful that Bereans support the ministries of our children & youth. Thankful that events like VBS are staffed by our wonderful congregation.
I am thankful that we partner in the gospel! These responsibilities are not ones the Pastors’ families can handle on their own. They are not things that can be accomplished by the few. These are things God has laid before us as ways to bring Him glory by our service to our congregation.
Now in my thankfulness we must all find responsibility. We all share “partnership in the gospel.” We must be the ones to carry this good news to our community. We each have an integral part to play in the busyness of July.
What are your July plans? Have you signed up to help in VBS? Have you given your support (prayers, financial, etc.) to our missionaries? Have you committed to help in the weekly activities of Sundays & Wednesdays?
If not, to which of these is God calling you to bring leadership? Where does He want your service & dedication this July? How will you partner in the gospel?
Love You All, Jason

Young Bereans On Mission: Will You Pray?
Haiti: July 5—19 Stephen Troxell will be leaving July 5 to spend two weeks in Haiti. While there he will be continuing work on permanent housing for the missionaries. Below is a list of specific Prayer Requests that you use to lift Stephen up during your personal prayer time.
Pray as Stephen takes on the responsibility of leading a new mission team through the airport in Haiti and through Haitian Customs. This is a difficult task with many complications. Pray for a smooth arrival and easy transition into the country.
Pray for opportunities and courage for Stephen to share the Gospel with the people of Haiti.
Pray for Stephen’s and the other missionaries’ safety while in Haiti.
World Changers: Philadelphia, PA: July 8—15 Charlie & Jessica will be taking 11 of our youth to World Changers, Saturday, July 8. While in Philadelphia our youth will be ministering in the lower income downtown areas of the city. They will be painting as well as landscaping in area parks which will present opportunities for sharing the gospel with the locals. They will also be working with local organizations such as Helping Hands and the Salvation Army. For many of our youth this will be their first time this far and this long away from home as well as their first Mission Trip experience. There are many things you can be lifting up in prayer while our students and their leaders are away.
Pray that our students will be given the opportunities to share the gospel as well as the right words to say and the courage to say them.
Pray that our students will show kindness and the love of Christ to the people of Philadelphia.
Pray for the students to not feel homesick while they are gone, and for their parents to feel at ease while their children are away serving God in a different state.
Pray for Charlie and Jessica as they are responsible for 11 students for the week. Keep them strong, healthy and well-rested.

July is here, and with it a wide range of exciting opportunities for our children’s & youth’s ministries. The month starts off fast as we send off the oldest of the bunch Stephen Troxell, who will be heading to Haiti July 5-19. While there Stephen will be working to facilitate two separate teams as they minister in the community of Montrouis with Supply and Multiply. During his time they will be doing medical clinics, continuing projects planting crops like avocados &
banana trees, and continuing their efforts repairing & building housing for some of the Haitians.
Next up will be our team of 13 (listed below) heading to Philadelphia, PA from July 8-15. The team will be working with the Philadelphia Housing Authority painting low income housing and community centers as well as working with local ministries like the Salvation Army and Helping Hands Ministry. Participants will also be taking the time to prayer walk the city of Philadelphia as well as taking time to play with children, pass out food to those in need, and use any opportunity we get to share the gospel.
Finally, we all have the opportunity to share with our community right here in Elizabeth City through Vacation Bible School July 30-August 3. We already have 19 children (not including current church kids) that are preregistered to attend this year with more being added every day. This year’s theme is Mighty Fortress where kids will learn that, while others may fail them, God will always be their protection & salvation and that through Jesus the Victory is Won!
All of these things in conjunction with the continued weekly Youth Bible Study and Children’s summer program will make for a great summer of ministry! The best part is that there is still a variety of ways you can invest in these ministries. We are always looking for those willing to provide snacks for our Wednesday program, we need van drivers & extra helpers with VBS, and of course there is the ever present need to lift up all of our students & volunteers in prayer. I encourage you to be in prayer and find a way that you can be a part of what God is doing. For more information, please feel free to give me a call or text at any time. I look forward to serving alongside you. Have a great summer!

Dear Pastor Wise, Chellie and Seniors, We enjoyed having you come to our Young at Heart meeting. The interesting facts you shared about the American flag were very appropriate for Flag Day! Our thanks to Dave and Edith Kelsick, your Senior Directors, for the scripture, devotionals by Billy Graham, and hymns. The trio by Sherry Hewitt, her sister and the woman who played guitar (Faye) in their yellow outfits provided nice music. We were very blessed to have Pastor Jason and Chellie share their vocal and instrumental talent! You all made our meeting a special one.
Blessings, The EMC Young at Heart Seniors
Thank You
