Continuation of Learning and Well-Being We all miss our Bessborough school family and the highlight of our day is celebrating students’ learning, seeing students during a google meet, connecting on the phone, or communicating via email. Thank you to all families who have been sharing messages and learning experiences with us in various formats! As you know, all Ontario publicly funded schools have been ordered to remain closed until at least May 31, 2020 in response to COVID-19. Wellness Day Funds
At the beginning of the school year all families paid $20.00 per child to fund Wellness Day, which unfortunately was cancelled. We would like to use that money to fund next year’s Wellness Day which would eliminate the need to process refunds. If you wish to receive a refund, please contact Renee Cronier at [email protected] and copy Toyin Bere at [email protected] by June 1st. The money will be collected in the fall for all new students.

Bessborough E & MS Newsletter Friday May 8, 2020
Hello Bessborough Parents!
While we never would have anticipated a draw to the end of a school year like what we’re
experiencing, a lot of memories were made. New friendships formed and old ones strengthened for
both the kids and parents. We started the year with Movie Night, which is always a huge hit. We had
the Kindie Welcome night, Street Crawl, Men with Bats, and countless class parties.
We now find ourselves at home, missing friends and social gatherings. No one knows how long it will
last, but we will all come together again, eventually.
Mayfair
As many of you may have already guessed, we unfortunately won’t be able to run our annual spring fair, Mayfair, this year due to the closure of the schools during this period. So much effort has already gone into planning and we want to thank Cabrina Skillen and Kristine Locklin for all of their hard work. We are already looking forward to Mayfair 2021.
Pizza and Sub Lunches
We managed to hold most of the pizza and sub lunches this year. Thanks again to Lisa Jones, Cabrina Skillen, Stacey Niman and their respective teams. With Mayfair, these special lunches are a significant School Council fundraiser that help supply our classrooms with an array of enrichment activities and tools. For the cancelled remaining 3 sub lunches and 3 pizza lunches, we kindly ask families to consider making their outstanding amount a donation to the School Council to be allocated to enrichment projects for next year. Every bit helps, so for those parents who decide to donate their lunch dollars to Bessborough, we send a huge thank you! If you would like a refund for the cancelled lunches (approximately $9 per student for each sub lunch, and ranging between $5-12 per student for each pizza lunch, depending on what was ordered) please contact Renee Cronier at [email protected] and copy Toyin Bere at [email protected] by June 1st. After that date, the remaining funds will be considered a donation to Bessborough School Council.
Looking Forward to Next Year
New School Council Chair
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Andrea Bee has agreed to step into the role of School Council Chair in September. Thank you Andrea! In September, we will be looking for volunteers for School Council and school events. Everyone is welcome and if you are interested in joining, or have questions about what is involved, please contact Christine Davis at [email protected]
School Events and Activities
We don’t yet know what September will hold in regards to protective health measures, but we are monitoring the information provided and will update everyone on fall events as we get closer to that time.
