Christine’s guide to the Be st of Philly I’m a Philly native, and LOVE this city! As Chair of the ACE17 Welcoming Committee, I’ve put together lists of my favorite spots, along with web-links, to ensure your visit includes lots of local flavor. Almost all spots are within walking distance of the Convention Center, so get out there and enjoy! If you’re a Water Geek… you’ll LOVE these waterfront spots! Fairmount Water Works - museum & restaurant Moshulu - restaurant on an an old ship at Penns Landing Independence Seaport Museum - includes submarine & boat tours Spruce Street Harbor Park - beer gardens, hammocks, games, and food along the Delaware River Boathouse Row - along the Schuylkill River, and lit up at night If you enjoy Unique Dining… you’ll LOVE these restaurants! Steven Starr - check out his numerous themed restaurants around town Jose Garces - the Iron Chef has several restaurants Reading Terminal Market - just outside the Convention Center Farmacia - farm-to-table dining Talula’s Garden - from the creators of Talula’s Table (a top ranked US restaurant that requires reservations one year in advance) If you enjoy Art & Learning… you’ll LOVE these museums! Philadelphia Museum of Art - huge, free tours of the museum treasures Barnes Foundation - pay extra for the docent led tour; it is SO worth it Penn Museum - mummies and more Franklin Institute - science museum Rodin Museum If you want a Taste of Philly… you’ll LOVE these Philly treats! Cheesesteaks from Pats or Genos (go with a buddy, buy one from each shop, which are catty-corner, then swap halves for a taste-test) Bassets Ice Cream in the Reading Terminal Market Cannoli from Termini Brothers in the Reading Terminal Market Wawa - for coffee, Tasty-Kakes, and made-to-order hoagies Philly Soft Pretzel - from any vendor on a street corner If you are a History Buff… you’ll LOVE these historical sites! Ben Franklin Museum - inventor, statesman, scientist, and much more National Constitution Center Betsy Ross House - did she really sew the first American Flag? Independence National Historical Park - see where our country started The newly opened Museum of the American Revolution If you need to be Outdoors… you’ll LOVE these parks! Dilworth Park - cooling fountains and cafe on west side of City Hall Rittenhouse Square - plus fine dining el fresco around the Square Fairmount Park - rent bikes, run or walk Schuylkill River Trail - go for a walk or run along the river Philadelphia Zoo

paying too much for parking again • Take the train from Lansdale, and get FREE parking in their new garage • Uber - easy, convenient, inexpensive rides through the city • Road Trip!! Share the driving with your coworkers or family

If you must Stretch Your Legs… you’ll LOVE walking to these spots! • AMOR statue - while the iconic LOVE statue is being repainted, you can

still feel the love in Philly (8 blocks West of the Convention Center) • Fountains at Dilworth Park - west side of City Hall (3 blocks Southwest) • Liberty Bell (9 blocks Southeast) • Run up the Rocky Steps at the Art Museum, then pose for a selfie at the

Rocky statue (1.4 miles Northwest) • Paint Torch & Lenfest Plaza (across Broad Street from Convention Center)

If you Aren’t Afraid of Heights… you’ll LOVE these views! • Observation deck atop City Hall - just below the William Penn statue • R2L - in 2 Liberty Place, grab a drink and gaze south and west • One Liberty Observation Deck - 360 degree views of three states • SkyGarten - FREE admission to the 51st floor deck, plus drinks & apps • XIX Nineteen - restaurant, cafe, bar, atop the Hyatt at the Bellevue
