What an awesome inspirational experience. While there, we spoke with Rev. Yvonne Best Motaung. She sends her best wishes and all her love to Bethany. Sisters Alice Towe and Constance Napier. FLOWERS ON THE ALTAR – The flowers on the altar today are in celebration of my Father, Franklyn Watson Taylor, Jr., who will be 90 years young on August 25; and in memory of my dear brother, Franklyn, III, who was born on August 26. Sisters Flora Taylor. SURROGATES OF CHRIST (SOC) - The Surrogates of Christ (SOC) invite all new members and their families, who have joined Bethany from May 5, 2013 to present, to our annual new member welcome celebration, on Sunday, September 20, 2015 after the 11:00 a.m. worship service. This event will take place in the Lounge. We hope that you will plan to give us an opportunity to meet and greet you and your family, and allow yourself to become better informed about the many ministries Bethany has to offer. There will be fellowship, food, beverages and lots of fun! RSVP and obtain more information by contacting Sisters Linda Preston at 732-438- 9220 or Minnie Frager at 973-744-0421 MEN’S DAY CHOIR – Men of Bethany, let’s get ready to sing on Men’s Day, September 13. Last year’s Men’s Day Choir was outstanding and this year we want it to be even more spectacular. But in order for that to be the case, we need you to step up to the plate and join in singing the Lord’s praise. The first rehearsal will be on September 8 at 6:30 pm. Come on guys, let’s make this year’s Men’s Day Choir something Bethany will long remember. Come to rehearsal on the 8 th and help make a joyful noise unto the Lord! August 30-Juanita Fleming WORSHIP SERVICE DURING AUGUST – The Bethany family will worship together in ONE SERVICE at 10:00 a.m. until September 13th, when the 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services will resume. During the summer, Sunday School and New Members classes will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. MEETINGS SUSPENDED – Please take note that during the month of July and August, evening and Saturday meetings at the church are being suspended, except for activities related to worship preparation, Prayer Service and Bible Study. For more information, please contact the Staff in the Office during the week, or inquire at the Church Clerk’s Office on Sundays.

Aaron Graves was raised in Reidsville, North Carolina. He learned to play various instruments including piano, bass, organ, and drums, in the church where his father, a great musician with a musical family, was pastor.

Aaron eventually moved to Washington, D.C. at the age of sixteen to play bass guitar with

Richard Smallwood and attended The Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts. This is where he began hearing the art form that some call jazz.

After touring with various artists that included Richard Smallwood, Myrna Summers, The Voices Supreme and Henry Davis, Aaron entered Howard University and received a Special Talent Scholarship. After two years study he transferred to the University of the District of Columbia to study with Jazz Master, Calvin Jones. While studying at UDC Aaron, auditioned for a National Endowment of the Arts grant, was accepted, and studied with Jazz Master, Kenny Barron. He has also studied with Jazz Masters, Barry Harris and Stanley Cowell.

Aaron has been blessed to perform and/or record with greats that include Stanley Turrentine, Oscar Brown, Jr., Dakota Staton, Houston Person, Ernie Andrews, Marlena Shaw, Linda Hopkins, Cassandra Wilson, Antonio Hart, Greg Osby, Keter Betts, Bill Lee, Grady Tate, Kenny Burrell, Frank Foster, Grover Washington, Jr., Vanessa Rubin, Earl May, The Blackbyrds, The Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, Maceo Parker, Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, The Boys Choir of Harlem, Jann Parker, Donald Byrd, James Moody, Kevin Mahogany, Barbara Montgomery, Jimmy Scott, Maysa, John Hendricks, Al Jarreau, Debbie Sledge, Denise King, Monette Sudler, Lynn Riley and Frank Owens
