•There are over 5.4 million businesses in the UK

• 59% of the workforce (13.7 million) in the SME sector

The top 10 issues small businesses want the next Government to focus on in the next five years:

1. Reduce regulatory burden (53%)2. Introduce a more simplified tax system (51%)3. Reform business rates (44%)4. Improve the employability skills of young people (41%)5. FSB survey Q3 2015

• Growth aspirations of small businesses are strong although have cooled slightly since this time last year

• 65.3% plan to grow over the next year

• 36% say skills are a barrier to growth

• 62% see credit conditions improving for small firms

• Net balance of profit and revenue growth continue to rise

• New Living Wages a challenge, as are the auto enrolment of pensions
