Company Profiles Beverage Manufacturing Opportunities... Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor Sector Overview Eastern Alberta Trade Corridor food and beverage processing industries, including the Ribstone Creek Brewery located in Edgerton, Alberta take advantage of uniquely favourable local conditions. Ribstone Creek Brewery recognizes the advantages provided to them by basing their business in an agricultural hub in rural Alberta. Many of their ingredients, including water, are all locally sourced to produce a fresh, desirable product. Ribstone Creek Brewery accesses their water from a large underground aquifer located in the area, that is naturally purified by a deep sand formation so it is a high quality ingredient. Co-Founder, Al Gordon says that “our water was first canned by the Village in 1967 as a centennial project, and is considered Alberta’s best, at least be Edgertonians.” Ribstone Creek Brewery is proof that a large-scale manufacturing facility can succeed, and thrive in rural Alberta. Gordon states that, “The most important component to the success of Ribstone Creek Brewery is that we have top class brewers and brew master, that goes without saying. Following that we have been very fortunate to enjoy support from the local community both as shareholders in the brewery as well as customers of our products. Equally as important is to mention the support of our media, be it paper & magazines or T.V. & radio, they all pick up on the local rural flair.” .

About Ribtone Creek BreweryThe Ribstone Creek Brewery is an investor-owned 'craft’style brewery located in the village of Edgerton ineast-central Alberta. The founding members include:

• Alvin Gordon (village administrator),• Don Paré (farmer),• Chris Fraser (lawyer),• Cal Hawkes (mechanic),• David Beardsell (a veteran brewmaster).

The five recognized the growing demand for high-quality,Alberta-made, craft beer and saw an opportunity to createa unique, thriving business in the area they grew up in.

After some in-depth market research and extensivediscussion with community leaders, the decision was madeto turn the Ribstone Creek dream into reality. The founderssought community investment and purchased a historicalbuilding on main street Edgerton — a former tractordealership that had served area farmers for generations.

After renovating the building and fine-tuning the recipefor their flagship Ribstone Creek Lager, Ribstone CreekBrewery began full-scale beer production in the fall of 2012.

Local pubs, restaurants and liquor retailers embraced the'made-at-home' product and staff found themselvesscrambling to meet a demand that surpassed even thefounders' wildest expectations.

In order to keep up, Ribstone has expanded their beer-making facility and more than doubled production capacitysince starting up.

The support for Ribstone Creek Brewery continues to build, both locally and province-wide. Ribstone Creek is now ontap in more than 50 locations and dozens of retailers proudlystock Ribstone on their shelves.
