Known for his “musical accuracy” and “emotional intensity,” Maestro Fakhouri’s performances have been celebrated for their broad, dynamic and powerful interpretations, which go beyond the score to capture both the essence and spirit of the music.

Fakhouri continues to be in high demand in the United States and abroad. During the 2016-2017 season he was appointed Music Director of both the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra in Michigan and the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra in Texas. From 2004–2016 he served as Music Director and Conductor of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra (North Carolina). In 2009

he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra (North Carolina) and was also Music Director and Conductor of the Greensboro Symphony Youth OrchestrawhereheledthatensembleonitsfirstinternationaltourtoAustriaandGermany.

In addition to conducting, Fakhouri is an active composer of a multitude of symphonic, chamber, choral and solo music. His works have been premiered and performed by the English Chamber Orchestra (UK), the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra (Bulgaria), the Mediterranean Orchestra (Italy), the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra (Lebanon) and the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, to name a few.

Fakhouri hails from a musical family whose roots go back four generations. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting, as well as a Master of Music in Composition/Theory from the Pennsylvania State University. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Theory and Composition from West Texas A & M University.

In December 2014 in recognition of “his impressive career achievements, phenomenal leadership of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, and dedication to music and the community” Methodist University (NC) bestowed upon him an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters. In March 2016 he was inducted into the Fayetteville (NC) Music Hall of Fame and in April 2016, upon the completion of a highly successful 11-season tenure with the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, individual community donors honored him with establishing “The Fouad K. Fakhouri Endowment for Artistic Excellence”—a $1.1 million fund. In April 2017 he was awarded the “2017 Arts and Architecture Alumni Award” from the School of Music at his alma mater: Penn State University. Fakhouri resides in New York City with his wife Diane Lavelle, an advertising executive, and their daughter Isabella.

Profile: Guest ArtistsTuesday, December 11, 2018 • 8:00 p.m. • Temple Theatre

Soprano Amy Petty is an incredibly versatile vocalist, equally at home on the classical stage or behind a guitar and microphone. After receiving a degree in Classical Voice from Oakland University in Rochester MI, Amy has gone on to perform in venues and concert halls all over the country, including The Kennedy Center in Washington DC, The Living Waters Theatre in Lancaster PA, The Sheldon in St. Louis MO and has just returned from her sixth appearance as a soloist at Carnegie Hall in NYC, among many others.

As a singer/songwriter, Amy has released three critically acclaimed folk/pop albums and is currently working on a new album, slated for a Spring 2019 release. She travels the country

performing her original songs which can also be heard on TV, in movies and on radio and advertisement campaigns. Amy has shared the stage with artists like Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Darlene Love, Suzanne Vega, Loreena McKennitt and Andrea Corr. You can hear her music at www.amypettymusic.com.

Amy is also a sought after composer and arranger, working with artists, conductors and producers to create new orchestrations and choral works for performance and licensing.

After spending many years in New England, Amy is proud to call Saginaw her home, along with her husband Billy and 3 year old daughter. She is thrilled to be making her second appearance with the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra at the Temple Theater.

Billy Petty is a singer, multi-instrumentalist, music director, conductor, arranger, composer, producer, speaker, pastor, clinician and studio musician. He is the Worship Pastor at Hopevale Church in Saginaw Township, MI (one of Saginaw’s largest church gatherings), leading and overseeing the worship services and the Worship and Production staff and volunteer teams. He has been leading music in churches since he was 15 years old and has consulted with and trained music leaders, musical artists, teams, bands, and vocal and instrumental ensembles all over the country. Billy has a degree in Classical Voice Performance from Oakland University and is a sought-after soloist for both pop-modern projects and classical works. Maybe most notably, he has appeared multiple times as a vocal

soloist and music director/band director at Carnegie Hall in NYC. He has also appeared as a soloist with various symphonies, chorales and classical ensembles. He and his wife, Amy, live in SaginawTownshipwiththeirdaughter,Charlotte.ThiswillbeBilly’sfirstappearancewiththeSBSO and is overjoyed to share the stage with his wife.
