Internal Audit Co-sourcingKPMG is the internal audit partner for Airtel in Nigeria, responsible for the implementating the internal audit plan and providing assurance to the Board on the effectiveness of the overall control environment in the business operations. The reviews cover the following areas: Finance (including Revenue Assurance & Fraud Management) Supply Chain Management Customer Service Delivery Information Technology Network and Technical Legal and Regulatory Compliances Human Resources & Administration Payroll and Benefits Regional Operations Sales and Distribution Marketing (including Products)

In assisting the company to achieve the project objectives, KPMG performed the following activities: Development and execution of audit work programs Collation of audit work papers and documentation of audit reports Assignment of audit rating to functional areas and final reporting to top management Validation of progress made on prior identified issues based on review of status of corresponding management action plans Reporting to management the local Board Audit Committee and the Africa Group management Facilitation of process-level risk assessment workshops Participation in key transformational projects in the organisation

Revenue auditAssistance in providing revenue audit assurance on the completeness and accuracy of airtime revenue numbers reported by the operator. Project involved determining net airtime revenue by ascertaining total usage and deducting airtime not paid for and for which the Company would not receive economic benefit (i.e. airtime for staff, dealers, shareholders, promotional airtime etc).

Revenue service commission Assistance in developing process of allocating commissions to dealers based on activation of SIMs and recharge vouchers. Using sales and activation data, assisted with linking SIMs and vouchers sold by dealers to those activated by subscribers, using unique serial numbers.

Deferred revenue data clean up Engagement involved calculation of deferred revenue in accordance with accepted principles including change in methodology of computation. Review included: Estimating value of deferred revenue based on sales figures from inception of the business through data capture at regions to improve accuracy of sales figures Expanding serial numbers of sold vouchers and linking same to the serial numbers of Available to Use vouchers on the IN to determine serial numbers of vouchers that were sold as at cut off date

Management of request for information (RFI) processEngagement involved assistance in the management of the request for information process intended to improve operating efficiency and eventual reduction in capital and operating expenditure on power generators. The scope of the project included: Drafting, agreeing and publishing of the request for information (RFI) Collation and evaluation of vendor responses Short-listing of eligible vendors Preparation of demo reports

Management of RFP for production/supply of below-the-line merchandise projectAssisted with the project management of the RFP process. Scope of work included: Planning and managing the project Evaluating EOIs Identifying and short listing successful vendors based on agreed evaluation criteria Drafting and issuing of RFP Collating and evaluating responses from potential vendors Facilitating the appraisal of shortlisted vendors Documenting recommendation on suitable vendors

Operational and financial due diligence on request for proposal for bulk diesel stocking/ distributionConducted a due diligence on shortlisted bulk diesel vendors to verify claims in their proposals and ascertain their capability to meet the needs of the Company.
