POST GRADUATE

ECONOMICS

There shall be sixteen theory papers and two term papers, seminar & viva -voce tests. Papers - I, II, III, IV shall constitute the 1st semester course. Papers - V, VI,VII VIII & IX (Term paper, Seminar & viva-voce) shall constitute the 2nd semester. PapersX, XI, XII, &, XIII shall constitute 3rd semester. Papers XIV, XV, XVI, XVII, XVIII (Termpaper, Seminar & Viva-voce) shall constitute 4th semester. Each theory Paper shallcarry 50 marks and are of 3 hours duration. Each term paper, seminar & viva-voce testsshall carry 100 marks. There shall be 4 (Four) Units in each theory paper. Each theorypaper shall have four long questions with alternatives; (one with an alternative from eachunit). The distribution of marks for Paper-IX and XVIII shall be as follows:

Seminar:20, Term paper:50 and Viva Voce: 30.

ENGLISH (P.G.)

Course StructureThe course in each unit shall consist of prescribed texts of authors to be

studied in relation to the age taking into account their aesthetic merit. Candidates shallbe required to have broad knowledge of the intellectual and social background as well ascritical perception of the literature covered by the course.

The total course is divided into 04 semesters and each semester comprises04 theory papers. There will be two term papers, i.e. Paper-IX and Paper-XVIII(alongwith viva-voce and seminar to be conducted in Semester-II and IV respectively)

Each paper excepting Paper-XVI and XVII shall have three long answer typequestions with alternatives on the prescribed texts whereas Paper-V ad X should havetwo long answer type questions on the prescribed texts and one question on thebackground of the age with alternative. The fourth question will be either short answertype questions/annotations as has been mentioned on each paper. However, in Paper-XII i.e. Literary Criticism-I there shall be four long answer type questions, each carrying12½ marks. The distribution of marks for Paper-IX and XVIII shall be: Seminar-20, TermPaper-50 and Viva voce 30.

GEOGRAPHY (P.G.)

There shall be 20 papers in all carrying 50 marks each to be taught in four semesters,five papers in each semester. In ach semester there shall be three theory papers andtwo practical papers for which the examinees shall take the end semester examination.In each theory paper there shall be four units, and the question paper shall have onequestion from each unit with and alternative option. Out of the two alternatives of anyquestion, at least one shall be long answer type and its alternative may be long answertype or short answer type. In Semester-II, Paper-X is meant to test the ability of thestudent in presenting seminars and writing term papers, to be evaluated by viva-voce. COURSES OF STUDIES

HISTORY (P.G.)

There shall be sixteen theory papers and two Term papers, seminar and viva-

voce tests. Papers-I, II, III, IV shall constitute the 1st semester. Papers-V, VI, VII, VIII and

IX (Term paper, seminar and Viva-Voce) shall constitute the 2nd Semester. Papers-X,

XI, XII, XIII shall constitute 3rd Semester. Papers-XIV, XV, XVI, XVII and XVIII (Term

paper, seminar and Viva-Voce) shall constitute 4th semester. Papers XVI and XVII will

be special papers. Each theory paper shall carry 50 marks and is of 3 hours duration.

Term paper, seminar and viva-voce test shall carry 100 marks each. The marks with

respect to Paper-IX (Sem-II) and Paper-XVIII(Sem-IV) are to be divided as: Seminar-20,

The marks withrespect to Paper-IX (Sem-II) and Paper-XVIII(Sem-IV) are to be divided as: Seminar-20,Term Paper-50 and Viva-30.There shall be four long & short-answer type questions ineach paper of End-Semester Examination, carrying equal marks.
