Welcome

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in our care on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newborns through fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, Sunday School, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available in the Welcome Center. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers are available to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms before the hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We provide a Mother/Infant Room located beside Nursery 1, and the Geneva Room is designated as a Cry Room for parents with fussy children, equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

The Personal Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)

Dear Heavenly Father, we bow ourselves before you and confess that we have too often forgotten that we are your sons and daughters. Sometimes we carry on our lives as if there is no God and we fall short of being credible witnesses to you. We have denied you with silence, passivity, and cowardice. We have betrayed you by our idolatry, disobedience, and selfishness. Instead of following your ways, we have turned to our own ways. Instead of honoring you, we have desired the applause of man. For these things we ask your forgiveness and your enabling grace. Transform us into courageous ambassadors for Christ. Give us clear minds and open hearts so we may be your witnesses in a lost world. Remind us that we are your servants regardless of whom we are with, where we are, or what we are doing. Draw us ever closer to you and embolden us to take up our cross daily to follow you. For the sake of Jesus our Savior, Amen.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ...................................................... 1 Peter 2:9-10But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Response—How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds ......................................St. Peter

(Sung by all)How sweet the name of Jesus sounds in a believer’s ear!It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds, and drives away his fear! It makes the wounded spirit whole, and calms the troubled breast,’Tis manna to the hungry soul and to the weary, rest! Dear Name! The rock on which I build, my Shield and Hiding Place,My never failing Treasury, filled with boundless stores of grace! Jesus, my Shepherd, Brother, Friend, my Prophet, Priest and King.My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End, accept the praise I bring!

*†The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

Before the throne of God above, I have a strong and perfect plea;A great High Priest whose name is Love, who ever lives and pleads for me.My name is graven on his hands, my name is written on his heart;I know that while in heaven he stands, no tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair, and tells me of the guilt within,Upward I look and see him there who made an end to all my sin.Because the sinless Savior died, my sinful soul is counted free; For God the Just is satisfied to look on him and pardon me.

Behold him there, the risen Lamb, my perfect spotless righteousness,The great unchangeable I AM, the King of glory and of grace. One with himself I cannot die, my soul is purchased by his blood; My life is hid with Christ on high, with Christ my Savior and my God!
