Years before President Trump would proclaim “Make America Great Again,” evangelical preachers were already preaching that we should “Keep America Great.” In a few days we will celebrate the 243rd birthday of the American Declaration of Independence. And what is the Fourth of July without hot dogs, baseball games, and fireworks? We celebrate civil rights and religions rights. We celebrate our freedom.

Think about it…only in America are there handicap parking plac-es in front of a skating rink… Only in America do drug stores make the sick walk all the way to back of the store to get their prescriptions, when healthy people can buy suntan lotion at the front…Only in America do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a Diet Coke… Only in America do people do we use voice mail and caller ID to screen calls, but have call waiting so we won’t miss a call from someone we didn’t want to talk to anyway! Only in America do we buy hotdogs in packages of 10, and buns in packages of 8.

But we should never forget that July 4 was not just about the birth of a nation, it was the guarantee of religious freedom. 23 years after Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, it was said, “Whereas we all came into these parts with one and the same end and aim, namely to advance the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to enjoy the liberties of the Gospel in purity and peace.”

As we celebrate our freedom today, I pray you will remember that Jesus is the source of true freedom. Welcome to Worship.

At our last SAF Board Meeting, Pastor Ben was challenge to pre-sent a series on Spiritual Gifts and how each individual can use their gifts for building the kingdom of God. Pastor Ben is working on that series now and will present it in a new, creative, and unique way. If you’ve ever wondered how you could make a difference for God, you won’t want to miss this exciting, with hands-on learning, teaching series.

CHURCH WEBSITE | Now Our Church has a new website look! Though there are still a few “kinks” to work out, the new site is up and available for view-ing. Beginning this week, you will be able to get the latest calen-dar information, use our “E-vite” system to invite friends, family, and neighbors to church events, return your tithes and offerings, and even watch and interact with the church during our live broadcasts. Coming soon—our own Church app for iOS and Android as well as a ROKU channel with recent past messages available on demand.

COMMUNITY CRAFT FAIR | July 25-26 SAF Fundraising Committee is hosting a Community Craft Fair on Thursday, July 25 & Friday July 26; 8am to 6pm. In prepara-tion, we’re asking for help inviting vendors for this event that will benefit our school. The gym has room for 20 vendors. We’re charging $50 for the two days for a 10x10 space. Meeting this goal means $1000 to help the school. Vendors can sell home-made goods; foods or crafts, or vintage & antique items. If you know someone who teaches a creative class, we invite them too! If you are a crafter and don’t want to have a booth, the school will have one and we’d be happy to sell donated items. Please contact Jennifer Ross, Vendor Coordinator or Jana Shepherd. Let’s continue to grow, share ideas of fundraising, and give all our kids a chance to have Christian Education.
