OBLEMS

Since January 1, 1970, when the Naiionat nVironmental Policy Act was

signed into law, there has been a great.inct, a in literature pertaining

to all aspects of the environment. Part of that literature relates to pub-.

lic concern with environmental problems. It seeks to determine the extent

to which the.attitudes have changed, whether this change has affected public

behavior and/fhe process of implementing public policy in respons'e to these

changes.

This bibliography presents a representative selection .of that liter-.

ature. The items cited deal with various aspects and manifestations of

public concern; they include sociological studies of the process of atti-

tude formation, attitude survey, opinion polls, narrative descriptions of

public reactions to specific environmental matters, listories of the recent

environmental movement, assessments of public reaction to the National.

Environmental Policy Act, philosophical discussions of environmental ethics,

and anaylses of tHe'politics and administration of environmental affairs.

The'bibliography is divided into four sections:

I. Books--the Library of Congress call number andbibliographic notes.

.2. Journal Ar icles--annotations have been includedin some c es when the title alone is not suffi-,ciently informative, or the article is of par-ticular significance.

3. Bibliographies

base provided by the Library Services Division of CRS.
