Item 2. Public Comment
Ms. Ginger Twigg from Revolutions Cyclery inquired/commented on the following: Thanked Brevard County for cleaning up spilled concrete on the road outside her shop. Ms. Twigg stated it was frustrating to find the correct office to call about the spilled concrete (Brevard county, City or State Road). She stated it is difficult for citizens to call about accidents or road concerns because you need to know who maintains the road. She requested a central line to call for help. Item 3A. FDOT Report Mr. Mike Ziarnek, FDOT Bike/Ped Liaison shared the resource guide “A Resident’s Guide for Creating Safer Communities for Walking and Biking”. Item 3B. Public Involvement Report No Report Item 3C. Bicycle Pedestrian Education Report Ms. Smith reported on Bike to School Day and Community Bike Safety Training on June 6, 2018. Item 3D. Trails Report Item 3.D.1 St. John’s River to Sea Loop Ms. Kraum reported the St. John’s River to Sea logo has been officially chosen and is included in your agenda package. Item 3.E. Staff Report Item 3.E.1 2018 BPTAC Goals Update Ms. Kraum gave a brief update on the 2018 BPTAC Goals and stated the participation in a Bike/Ped/Trails Mobility Plan Workshop has been postponed to Jan or February 2019. The updated schedule is in the Agenda Package. Item 3.E.2 SCTPO Annual Open House Space Cost TPO will be hosting its Annual Open House on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Florida Room of the Brevard County Government Center. Item 3.E.3 Meeting Calendar Update Ms. Kraum stated the SCTPO Staff has added an additional BPTAC meeting which will be an on-site walking workshop to be held October 22, 2018 and the location is to be determined. Item 3.F. Mr. Thompson suggested a Brevard County Trail Map that is color coded or has graphics to show the current trails, planned trails, and show how the trails are connected. DISCUSSION:
The Bicycle/Pedestrian/Trails Advisory Committee (BPTAC) formed a Community Event Committee (CEC) on January 22, 2018. The purpose of the committee is to plan how the BPTAC will accomplish its 2018 goal to participate in a bicycle/pedestrian/trails/safety community event. The Community Event Committee met on April 19, 2018. From that meeting a 2018 BPTAC Community Engagement Plan was created.

Mobility Week is an initiative that FDOT D5 holds every year around the last week of October, to educate the public on modal options, encourage the use of different modes, and promote safety.
The BPTAC is challenged to participate by using a different mode of transportation to commute or run an errand during this week and take a picture of it to show their participation.

PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Mobility Week is a cooperative effort by the Florida Department of Transportation and its partner agencies to promote awareness of safe multimodal transportation choices by hosting an annual collection of outreach events; and WHEREAS, Mobility Week is an ideal time for counties, cities and transportation agencies to highlight transportation achievements, roll out new initiatives and/or implement new policies; and WHEREAS, Mobility Week is also an opportunity for individuals to explore the various transportation choices available to them and think about how multimodal transportation reduces traffic congestion, benefits the environment, and improves community health; and WHEREAS, Mobility Week is consistent with Space Coast Transportation Planning Organization’s key priorities of promoting travel alternatives and encouraging pedestrian and bicycle safety. Likewise, the week-long celebration is also consistent with Space Coast Area Transit’s key priorities of providing quality transportation services that meet the needs of the public and enhance the quality of life of the community; and WHEREAS, the Space Coast TPO and Space Coast Area Transit support Mobility Week by hosting/participating in transportation events, such as:
