Eastern Long Island’s Historical Heritage will be the central theme of Swezey’s Department Store’s 82nd birthday Bicentennial sale from March 19 through 27.

Featured in both the Patchogue and Riverhead stores will be exciting displays from Suffolk County m useums, historical societies. Bicentennial commissions and town historians.

Highlight of the event will be the awarding by Swezey’s of a two week family vacation via United Airlines to any historical place in the 48 states to which United flies. In addition over $5,000 in other gifts will be given away.

Throughout the 8 day event, continuous demonstrations and shows will be taking place. More than 15 different early American crafts will be demonstrated by Eastern Long Island artisans. These arts include silver smithing, leather work, basket weaving, quilting, needlework, enameling, etc. Some of the art work will be available for purchase from the

Commenting on the event, Carroll M. Swezey, store president, said, "Since Swezey’s has been here for 82 of our country's 200 years, we felt it appropriate to make our contribution to the Bicentennial by giving residents an opportunity to better appreciate their heritage right here on Eastern Long Island. We are very appreciative of the great cooperation we have received from many par ticipating groups. At the same time we are very pleased that out-store buyers have been able to assemble the finest group of sale values from our top manufacturers in the history
