First quarter of the year, almost gone. So much to do yet time slips by us so quickly day in day out. I always have an admiration for people especially women who are good in managing their lives whether business or personal especially the working mothers, how do you manage juggling so many things at a time? With this said, we must not forget March is the month dedicated to women, we should remember all the women who have dedicated themselves with their positive beliefs, creating and making the world a more compassionate place to live. We dedicate this issue to all the women and especially women cyclists. On every bicycle is an independent woman with an independent mind, we hope on reading this issue we can inspire many women to get on a bike and spin the wheels. You will be surprise how your life can change with two wheels. On a personal note, this very same month one year ago I had the opportunity to work with two professional women who have pooled their creative talents together to make a project happen in a very limited time (and space). It was truly a gathering of great minds creating great moments and yes, we are the Mad Hatters Team. Dzovinar Bassil and Grace Lee this issue is also for you. Dzovi I hope you do get the bike of your dreams and Grace you get the Pashley bike.

It does not matter who you are, what kind of bicycle you ride. What matters is you ride a bicycle.

H&M for Brick Lane Bikes brings

    together the fashion, function

    and heritage of cycling. Each

piece has been designed so it

can be worn on or off the bike, inspired by the vibrant colors and specialist

knowledge that make Brick Lane Bikes so unique.

    Its great that theyve tested

every single piece around the streets of

    London, so we know the

    collection really works, says

    Petter Klusell, designer at H&M.

    H&M FOR BRICK

    LANE BIKES COLLECTION

This collection captures the energy and excitement of Brick Lane Bikes, along with our respect for the traditions of cycling. I love how the technical details become part of the look of each piece, while the colors bring cyclings heritage to life. I cant wait to see guys wearing these clothes as they ride the streets of the world, says Feya Buchwald, founder of Brick Lane Bikes.

To make the perfect cycling garment, every detail needs to be considered. Thats why the rider jacket from the Brick Lane Bikes collection is made from water repellent and breathable material, with ventilation holes under the sleeves and taped seams. Its cut longer at the back, with a back pocket and straps inside the jacket so it can be worn as a backpack.

Layering is key to a cyclists wardrobe, and the H&M for Brick Lane Bikes collection has all the pieces needed to complete the look. The crewneck top has a zip and ventilation holes, as well as sleeves cut for extra mobility, while the rider T-shirt has a functional pocket on the back.

The collection is completed with riders trousers similar to a functional chino. Legs are cut for slightly bended knees, a reinforced crotch, and reflective tape seams on the inside leg which are visible when rolled up for extra safety. Theres also a pair of riders shorts for when the weather turns warm and a striped cap. Materials used throughout the collection include organic cotton, recycled polyester and recycled wool, making the collection as sustainable as it is functional, and fashionable.

    Dr. SUREE TAMTHEEPATHAMDOCTOR RACE

What a coincidence that one of my friends mentioned to me about a bicycle race champion who won many races and had the opportunity to talk with the rider. It turns out that the rider is woman doctor.

Dr. Suree Tamtheepatham, an obstetrician at Khelang Nakhon-Ram Hospital, is in Khelang-Ram Team and Roadrunner Team Lampang. Cyclists in the Northern Region of Thailand knows her very well but we also want to learn more of this amazing racer.

BUMA: When, where and how did you start cycling?Dr. Suree: I started cycling because a senior doctor recommended me to do so. Before cycling I used to play golf but I suffered from shoulder pain and also there were no other females joining me to play the game so I started cycling about five years ago. There is a bicycle club in Lampang and they take us on cycling trips. Some of the places are for bicycles only. I made many new friends coming from many different professional backgrounds and ages. I was very impressed with how they assist one another.

BUMA: How did you start racing?Dr. Suree: I started racing three years ago, because I wanted to try it. When I was on a trip with male bikers I could catch up with them so I think I

can take part in a race. The first race I joined was at Doi Tung, but I was short of breath in the middle of the race. After that I started training on my own and returned to Phu Chi Fa for a race and came in 2nd place. I love racing, but what I love the most is when I get to meet new people during a race. I am fortunate and get to meet many kind-hearted people and nice people.

BUMA: How do you prepare for a race? What are your tips?Dr. Suree: You need to know what kind of track you are going to race in. I mostly do road race and mountain race. I do not like cross-racing, since it is quite dangerous and I may not be able to work if I injure myself. Biking is my life but my work is more important than my life. If I am to do a mountain race, I will only practice on mountain bike, and practice everyday. Only when there are many patients or I have to do an operation to deliver a baby in the morning or at night then I cannot practice. Sometimes, I use roll trainer. If I am to do a road race, I will practice on road bike to train my legs. I like to practice with road bike group to train traction and patience. When I practice alone I use heart rate tracker to track myself.

BUMA: Which race is your most favorite race? And why?Dr. Suree: Probably the 5th Inthanons Conqueror last year. It was the first time I did a 50-kilometer race. I finished in 5th place, when everyone gathered on the podium I was so proud since I seemed to be the oldest cyclist there.

BUMA: Which ones are you most proud of and which is the most recent one you won?Dr. Suree: I have won more than

30 trophies and medal prizes. The one I am most proud of is still the Inthanons Conqueror race.

BUMA: What would you like to see most about cycling in Thailand?Dr. Suree: I want to see more bicycle lanes in every province. I also want the cycling community to be more unified and not divided into so many different groups.

female cyclist with a super model body from Rock Racing Team and

FUJI Team, Khun Nut is from Suphanburi and has her pictures up in many race tracks making a lot of guys go crazy. So, we are here to talk to her.

BUMA: When, where and how did you start cycling?NUT: I have been cycling for three years now. My ex-boyfriend was a cyclist so when the guys went on a trip I would be on the service car. When they went on a long trip, they would rant about how tired they were and how hot the weather was. In the end, however, they kept going. I used to be an athlete myself so I wanted to know

A what cycling was like. My boyfriend has two bikes. We are about the same size, so he lent me the mountain bike. Even though I fell down on my first day of riding but I kept on riding with them for 26 kilometers. The more I cycled the more I loved cycling. I ended up cycling almost everyday, adding on more distance each day. I went on more trips and cycled every evening. I mainly ride mountain bike, but there were road bikers inviting me to try road bike. I was afraid at first because these guys are really strong, but I was falling in love with the bike at the time so after five months of having a mountain bike, I decided to buy a road bike. It was a Bianchi Milano in white and green which are my favorite colors. When

I became used to the bike, I found it fun to ride. It does not matter that sometimes I cannot catch up with the guys. I am a girl, so sometimes I do not have the same strength. Lately other guys have stopped using mountain bikes and focus mainly on road bikes. They often take road bikes on tour nowadays.

BUMA: How did you start racing?NUT: I started riding for four months only then I started racing. I took my mountain bike and went on a 30 kilometers short distance race. Then, I knew I was getting stronger but others beat me right after the start. Others have done some warm up before the race, but I did not. It was a short distance, so after the start

everyone went at their full speed. I could not catch up with them, so I knew it was not my thing just yet. I have too little experience to race. After that I started practicing and training: two days with the road bikers, and another two with mountain bikers. Now, I just ride the road bike. The mountain bike was sold.

BUMA: How do you prepare for a race? What are your tips?NUT: My cycling gang is in Suphanburi but I have moved to work in Bangkok. Back then we practice four days a week. In Bangkok I met and joined up with the Rock Racing Team and have been riding with them for nine months and join in whenever they practice and trips. We would go on short trips 80 or 100 kilometers. Recently we cycled for the annual Bangkok to Hua Hin ride. I choose which trips to ride and participate mostly in the amateur trips. After all I am a woman and I am also concerned about beauty.

BUMA: How many prizes have you gotten so far? Which ones are you most proud of and which is the most recent one you won?NUT: I have won some races but mostly an overall trophy. I joined in Test You Limit races in which you have to finish in time. Recently I joined the race in Ang Thong for 80 kilometers AV 35 which I did make it.

BUMA: How do you use bicycle now an how do you see the future of cycling?NUT: I want to ride the bicycle as often as possible until I cannot ride anymore. For my bicycle usage, ever since I came to Bangkok I have not used it in my daily life. I cannot really ride in Bangkok with all the bumps and holes. Mostly I will take my bike in a car and practice in Suphanburi with my close cycling friends.

    BICYCLE | Hi-Light

Ciclotte is an innovative exercise bike, designed and Made in Italy that combines idea, form and technology rethinking the traditional aesthetic and functional values of an exercise bike. Ciclotte has been manufactured using exceptional materials like carbon, steel and glass fibres and represents a complete innovation in the fitness sector thanks to the unique technology of the epicycloids transmission system.

Designed by Luca Schieppati, a young designer from Milan, and manufactured by the Lamiflex Group in Bergamo, Ciclotte breaks the rules of gym equipments design that have always emphasized only functional aspects, to address a target market of progressive, dynamic users that appreciate both physical and aesthetic lines. Ciclottes concept was created from the need to introduce design into everyday living, a real expression of contemporary living where work and relaxation, exercise and entertainment share a single dimension, within fluid spaces where all objects can interact with each other.

Thanks to its essential lines, inspired by ergonomics, Ciclotte is a fitness tool and a furniture complement that can be integrated into the most varied living

contexts: home, office, gym and outdoors. The large wheel of Ciclotte is the heart

of the project. A large circle reminiscent of Monocycles from the end of the 1800s, which has been transformed into an object of superior

engineering, destined to become a must in the world of interior design and luxury

    fitness.

Other distinctive features include the distinctive carbon handlebar, the touch screen display inspired by home automation systems and the support arms with their unique curvature. From a technical viewpoint, Ciclotte has been designed to faithfully reproduce the dynamics and performance of on-road cycling,

and it is also ideal for high intensity aerobic training like spinning. Ciclotte

is the evolution of the project Cicl, an innovative prototype of a single wheel city

bike, now part of Triennale Design Museum permanent collection in Milan after having participated in various international exhibitions.

    Ciclotte Steel

Ciclotte Steel, launched in 2012 is dressed with new colors: red, white and grey are the standard available versions, completed by a wide palette of shades customizable on demand. Steel becomes a new way of thinking about fitness, and expressing the emotions in color with a more attractive price. Together with the use of steel for the frame, carbon fiber remains for the handlebars and the rim representing the real trademark of Lamiflex Group.

    Ciclotte Accessories

The exclusive iPad and iPhone holder, launched in April 2012, will increase the level of entertainment during the ride, living the user the possibility to watch movies, or listen to music. This innovative accessory can be integrated with a package of electronical devices: a receiver connected with the mobile device and a cadence sensor attached to the pedal cranck, will let the user have information on the workouts, such as current speed, average speed and distance covered. Moreover, the lateral ends of the accessory made of a special non-slip plastic will provide comfortable horizontal handlebars, in alternative or addition to the vertical ones in carbon fiber of Ciclotte.

    For cyclists community in

Thailand, everyone will be familiar with ThaiMTB web board, which is Thailands largest online community for bicycle lovers. If you want to find something for your bike but do not want to go out, you can simply shop online for brand new or secondhand bike related products. From buyers or sellers, professional merchants or amateurs, the site serves well to all.

One of the most famous online shops is YOKOBIKE. Khun Yo, the owner, is a female programmer for a bank who uses her spare time selling spare parts and accessories for car and bicycles. It seems that she loves this business more than her day job.

I have a Masters degree in Computer. Before this I taught classes during weekends as well as work in a bank five days a week. I do not have any free time and it gets boring. I wanted to find something to do that I love and not for the money. I had to suffer from the bad traffic while commuting from my home to work. It took me an hour to an hour and a half from my home around Memorial Bridge (Saphan Phut) to my workplace in Suan Mali. I bought a foldable bicycle and took it on the ferry from Din Daeng Pier to Ratchawong Pier taking only 15 minutes for the trip. This also help me to lose weight as I sweat a lot whilst riding but this is better than standing in a bus and taking in the smell of others, I would rather smell myself than others. I started to enjoy cycling and bought more bicycles. I bought a mountain bike and started going on trips with other cyclists. I went on a trip to Khao Yai and loved cycling even more. However I did not have so much time to ride so I had to sell my bike.

I then came across vintage bikes and I bought one, I knew right away that in my heart I love vintage. This time I started to decorating my bike with accessories and bought more

bikes. The more I bought the less money I have left. As my salary could not cover for my expenses I tried to find a way to spend my time with what I love. I sell it! I started off by searching for cool and unique spare parts taking my own preference into account. What I like should impress others as well. I open my online shop in ThaiMTB since the beginning when the page was still in the red and was still free to sell. Everything I put on my shop was loved by customers. Everything was sold out. Until the site has become what it is now and merchants have to rent a shop space. So, my online shop becomes YOKOBIKE ever since.

Today most of my customers have turned into sellers themselves and we have become online neighbors. We love meeting friends who share the same interest and passion. We love to see new shop openings. It is not fun to sell alone and get all the money alone. Giving and sharing is the best thing. We love sharing as it helps to expand the cycling circle and we share what we have including new items. I do not want to sell alone and have no friends or time.

I do not really have a chance to cycle now. Most of the time, I have to take care of my customers but when I do go on a long trip the

customers cannot disturb me so I can enjoy my trip to the fullest. Every time I get to go on a trip I feel freedom. I feel like myself and I do not have to pretend to be anything else. I think of when I do not have to work anymore I want to sell bicycle and go on a long trip to see the world.
