About the Program

The B.I.D. is a five-year program that includes five major fields of design experience and leads to a professional Bachelor of Industrial Design degree (B.I.D.).

In first year, students follow a foundation studies program which leads to four years of further in-depth study in five different disciplines of Ceramic Design, Graphic Communication Design, Interior Design, Product Design and Textile Design before choosing to specialise in the fifth year. This approach provides students with a broad skill base and a thorough understanding of the industrial design.

The program aims to: • encourage critical and creative thinking • develop students as self-critical, socially aware individuals • develop to a high level students’ abilities to communicate both visually and verbally • develop in students a high level of technical skill and an integrated understanding of design process • encourage team work and collaboration • develop in students a keen understanding of the broad spectrum of career opportunities in design

The curriculum have been constantly developed and adjusted to meet the ever-changing demands of the industries and the country’s development. Emphasis is placed on process and its ingredients: research, inquiry, analysis, comparison and evaluation. The awareness of the market demand for design, cognizance of methods and materials of production, creation of designs that are in visual harmony with their environment and that are satisfying to the consumer, and responsiveness to the changes in technology and cultural patterns.
