The Arawaks were a very gentle culture, they preferred negotiation and commercial exchange to war. Their society was characterized by happiness, friendliness and a highly organized hierarchical, paternal society, and a lack of guile. Each group was a small kingdom and the leader was called a cacique

Venezuela has a lot of history that goes all the way back to Christopher Columbus’s second voyage to the new

world.Venezuela’s history is mostly dominated by the Spanish Colonial period that ended in the Bloody

Revolutionary War. Simon Bolivar was holding the leadership over the country at that time, he was called the “Liberator.” Remains of the Spanish Colonial period and the religious preference of the Venezuelan people is to the

Liberator.

Venezuela is a federal republic with 21 states, a federal district, one federal territory, and certain islands in the Caribbean that are designated as a federal dependency. In the constitution of 1999 there was a president elected to serve as head of

state and government.

The *arepa* is the hamburger in Venezuela. It is sold in stores called *arepera*. The arepas are cooked fresh. It contains filling which include shredded cheese, stringy meat cooked in spices,

chicken salad with Avocado, egg scrambled with onions and green peppers, diced sausages, and a variety of other things.

tb Oil 1/2 lb Ground beef 1/2 lb Ground pork 1 md Onion -- chopped 1 Clove garlic -- minced 1 sm Green chile -- chopped 2 lg Tomatoes -- peel, seed, chop 1/2 ts Achiote powder 1/2 ts Ground cumin 1/4 ts Thyme leaves 1/4 ts Black pepper 1 t Salt 8 Pimento-stuffed

olives -sliced 1 tb Capers Stuffed Arepas From Venezuela Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat, add meat, onions, garlic, green chile, tomato, achiote, cumin, thyme, black pepper and salt, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes, or until

tomatoes have formed a thick sauce. Stir in olives and capers. Prepare a recipe of basic arepas, shape into 3-inch discs (3/4-inch thick), cook. When done, split in

half, fill with meat sauce and serve hot.
