My FM Journey Nikki Lathbury – Hexagon FM

About me

Nikki Lathbury - Owner and MD of Hexagon FM Recruitment Specialists to the FM Industry

Married – Stephen Lathbury – Skanska Facilities Services

My journey - Recruitment

• 13 years experience in recruitment • Started in industrial, progressed to construction sector

• Moved to Maintenance & FM recruitment in 2006

Fully immersed in FM by 2007

10 years experience in FM sector with an introduction via

Mobile engineers whilst transitioning from Construction

The wall….

• Hit the recruitment wall • Frustrated by lies

• People not working as a team

• Not working in the best interest of the clients/candidates

• Disillusioned by a business who’s main function was figures

• Needed to know I wasn’t a one trick pony and to stretch myself

My FM chapter • Joined Helistrat Management Services, June 2010 – Waste Support Manager

Bring structure and process to a mobile management team

Promoted to Head Office Operations Manager – Nov 2010

Change Management Project to bring all central services in house 24/7/365

Improve service delivered, provide continuity to clients and be accountable

Re-scoped, retrained central services and re-established productive working relationships with fractured supply chain providers to enhance both the contractor and client experience

Frustrated

• Frustrated with terrible service from recruiters • Why didn’t they do what they said they were going to? • Felt peers needed a service they could rely on and was

honest

• Spoke to Mentor – Liz Kentish (Mama FM) • Encouraged me to set up on my own to keep ethics

in tact and make a difference

Hexagon FM

• Founded Dec 2013 • Office in Sutton Coldfield, Midlands, covering UK

• Joined BIFM Midlands Committee

Improve standards of FM recruitment to industry peers and colleagues

Honesty, Reliability, Knowledge, Creativity, Delivery

Changing the face of recruitment

Pay it forward

• Become a mentor/Ask for a mentor

• Be a buddy

• Exchange numbers today and meet for a coffee to share challenges and solutions

• Go and say Hi to a stranger

• Be the best that you can be and help where you can
