Best wishes to our senior students who commence their trial H.S.C. Exams this week. Once completed, they will commence their final few weeks of formal lessons in their subjects. It will then be the final few weeks at Billabong High School for our Year 12 students. Good luck to the boys U15 Swan Shield Team who will play a State Quarter Final in Sydney on Wednesday. The result will be on Facebook and in the next newsletter. A very successful debating/’public speaking day was held for primary schools here on Thursday. Congratulations to Mrs Bowman, Ms Bowen and our students who helped to run the various workshops. The SRC is organising the final school disco for 2015 next Wednesday evening. I hope to see a large number of students in attendance as it will be the last disco for our Year 12 students. Steve Bowen will be providing the music.
PRINCIPAL Nominations for the 2016 School Captains opened last week. Year 11 students have until the end of week 8 to put their forms in. The successful students will have their first official roles during the last week of this term. The next P&C meeting will be held on the 9th September 2015 at 7:00pm in the Common Room. A canteen meeting will precede this at 6:30pm. All parents are invited to attend. Congratulations to the students who have been working with the Greater Hume Shire Council Youth Committee on a ‘Don’t Text and Drive’ film clip that will be shown at the whole school assembly on the 3rd September 2015. This assembly will also have presenters from Coolheads (crash survivors) and the Culcairn S.E.S. Thanks to Mrs Susan Kane for co-ordinating this assembly.
The Year 12 Graduation Dinner is on Wednesday September 16. Notes have been distributed and need to be returned with payment by Monday August 31. Thank you.

LIONS DEBATING & PUBLIC SPEAKING
Almost eighty primary school students spent most of
the day at Billabong High School last Thursday.
They participated in the third round of the Lions Club
Debating and Public Speaking competition and
attended debating workshops.
The standard of both debating and public speaking
continues to improve and it is terrific to watch not
only the students skills develop but also to see their
confidence grow.
Many thanks must go to our Billabong High School
students who conducted the workshops and to the
SRC who cooked and served lunch.
