THE INCEPTION

In August 1984, a rendezvous between Bharat

Ratna Shri C. Subramanian with Prof. P.S. Mani

Sundaram, then Vice-Chancellor of

Bharathidasan University, culminated in the

formation of Bharathidasan Institute of

Management .

The resolution of imparting value based

education, taken at its birth has only grown

stronger with every passing year.

Today, after 26 years of excellence, BIM is

brimming with youthful energy and aiming to

stretch the boundaries of excellence once

more. With its vast network of alumni

spreading their wings, BIM is set to fly higher

than ever.

STUDENTS

The institute comprises of over two

hundred budding managers, who hail from

22 states of the country. Therefore, there is

a great confluence of cultures and values.

The current batch of students is a close-

knit team of pro-active individuals who

always strive to make a difference to the

world around them, while also sustaining a

thirst for knowledge.

The selection process is very rigorous and

this ensures that only the 'creme de la

creme' of the aspirants make it into

BIM. Most of the students at BIM have

prior work experience from prestigious

organizations across sectors. This leads to a

better understanding of the management

implications of various issues.

ACADEMICS

The only thing that never

changes is change itself. BIM

takes this adage seriously, and

therefore maintains a very

flexible curriculum which is

updated regularly to match the

demands of the industry.

The first year comprises of

courses that are theoretically

skewed, with focus on almost

all areas of general

management. The second year,

on the other hand, deals

entirely with specialized

subjects, handled mostly by the

industry practitioners .

EVENTSATHENAEUM

CRESCITA

Athenaeum is an

international conference

which seeks to bring

together academicians to

discuss and deliberate topics

on contemporary

management research. The

learning and deliberations

gleaned out of this

conference are to be

published as a compendium

of papers by a leading

publishing house in the

country

Crescita is the annual

confluence of business

minds. It is BIM's attempt to

enhance the students'

interaction with industry and

enrich their exposure to

current trends in the

corporate world.

Crescita holds the distinction

of being only the second

event conducted by a B-

school in India to be ISO

9001:2000 certified

ACHIEVEMENTS Arun Prakash Selvaraj won 2nd prize in INVESTOPHILE, investment game

conducted as part of PRERANA 2010 by National Institute of Industrial

Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai.

Natesh Muthalan. M and Priti Jharia secure second place at NIVESH – a national

level finance event conducted at Institute of Public Enterprise, Osmania

University, Hyderabad conducted on 3/11/2010 and 4/11/2010.

G. Anand Babu, R. Muthuraj, K. Naren Kartic and Priya Ranjan Nayak won 2nd

prize in SKILL CITY, strategy competition at XPRESSIONS 2010, conducted by

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB).

Mubeena. S won 3rd place in STOCKGURU, virtual stock trading game

conducted as part of GENESIS 2010 at FORE School of Management, New

Delhi.

G.Anand Babu and M. Vignesh declared overall winners of TRIDENT-three-day

online business quiz series of PRERANA 2010, management fest of National

Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai.

Vivek R.S and Sanjay Santosh won overall 2nd place in the above event.

G. Anand Babu won 1st prize in BLITZKRIEG, online quiz conducted by

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM)

Saikat Majumder and Protyay Pramanick won 2nd prize in online entertainment

quiz conducted as part of ENSEMBLE 2010, annual management fest of Xavier

Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur.
