Principals Message Dear Families and Community Members, Welcome to the end of Week 4! As the mid-term almost approaches our students have been working hard in all learning areas of the curriculum, it has been very pleasing to see. Keep up the great work Binjour!

Are your details up to date? Please ensure all your contact details are up to date. Additionally, please ensure your emer-gency contacts are up to date. Legally, if you inform the school that another adult will be picking up your child, it is important that this person is on your emergency contacts, this way both parties are covered if an incident oc-curs.

Homework Thank you to all families who participated in the homework survey. Your feedback has been taken on board and will be reflected in the Homework Policy. A draft will be sent around to families for their perusal in the next month.

Student Resource Scheme The second round of invoices have been is-sued. If you have opted to receive yours via email, it would have been emailed to your nominated email address. If you are yet to receive this, please let Mrs Harvey know and she can provide you with a copy. Payments are due as soon as possible.

Excursions and Visitors CODER KIDZ—Thank you to families who have brought in their excursion forms, just a reminder that the bus will be departing from school at approximately 7:50am. We are all looking forward to this fantastic opportunity!

Camp Update Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel camp for 2018. If you have any questions regarding this decision, give me a call or come and see me to discuss. Alternatively, there is a possibility of an end of term excursion. The idea of camp is still on

the cards, however it will be postponed for 2019.

Project Club—Report The Project Club have a crazy hair day com-ing up (Friday 17th) and the movie night has been moved to the Friday 7th of September.

Complaints or Grievances Please be advised, if you have any concerns or grievances I encourage all family members to come and discuss these with myself first. If you feel that the concern or grievance was not addressed, families are most welcome to call the following number 0749324000, this is the regional Education Queensland office who specialises in this. Additionally, please see attached the infor-mation for parents and carers when making a complaint.

School Opinion Survey All families should have received their user name and password to complete their School Opinion Survey. If you have misplaced yours, please come and see myself for another. The survey is undertaken each year to obtain opinion information from parents/caregivers, students and school staff to help schools iden-tify what they do well, and how they can im-prove. All the information is treated confidentially and will only be reported back in a way that you cannot be identified.

Additionally, if you need to use the schools computers, we are very happy to assist.

Term 4 Awards Evening Just a reminder that towards the end of term 4 an awards evening will be held. This evening is to celebrate all of our students achieve-ments and to acknowledge their efforts for the year past. The following awards will be as fol-lows; Academic Award – based on students level

of achievement data Encouragement Award – based on student

overall improvement over the year in all learning areas

Community Spirit Award – based on the students participation of in school and out of school community events (a kind donation has been made by the Masonic Lodge to support this award)

Sports Award – based on students partici-pation in Health and PE and outside school sports events

Reading Award – based on students growth for reading achievement from the beginning to the end of the year

Chappy Award – based on students social skills participation activities

Arts Award – based on students level of achievement and in discussions with Mrs Au-gustine and Mrs Moorrees

The decisions of who receives the awards will be made collaboratively with all staff, and the teachers primarily involved with that learning area. Additionally, the categories will be split up into Prep to Year 2 and into Year 3 to 6. All decisions will be announced on the evening. If

you have any questions or feedback to assist in making this a great evening, please come and have a chat to me or email me.

Week 3 and 4 Year to Date

Attendance One priority target for 2018 is to achieve and maintain an average of 90%. Please remember to inform the school via text, email or phone call if your child is going to be away.
