Summary of my research achievements / highlights The focus of research is the development of mathematical models based on the principles of advanced

mechanics for analysis of composite/sandwich plates and shells integrated with piezoelectric layers.

My research achievements and accomplishments are given below.

A) Three-dimensional static and dynamic models are developed for piezolaminated angle-ply panel

and plates subjected to arbitrary boundary conditions. The significant extensions made to

extended Kantorovich method to make suitable for analyzing three dimensional problems. It is

demonstrated through a series of numerical studies that the present methodology can accurately

predict the edge effect or boundary effects at very clamped or free edges.

B) Recently, this technique has been extended to develop an accurate 3D elasticity solution for

rectangular FGM plates with longitudinally varying material properties.

C) This development has opened the area for developing the close form solution for FGM plates

with property variation along multiple directions

D) Very recently, first time, an analytical model is developed for static analysis of arbitrarily

supported composite cylindrical based on 3D elasticity. Here also, it is observed that present

technique converge very fact and predict edge effect accurately.

Page 10: Bio-data - iitg.ac.in. Poonam.pdf · C) This development has opened the area for developing the close form solution for FGM plates with property variation along multiple directions

10

E) Further, this technique can be employed or extended to provide analytical solution for many

classical and new engineering problems.

F) The prediction of response of hybrid laminated structures integrated with PFRC layers requires

an accurate determination of their effective properties. To address the above concern, a fully

coupled, 3D micromechanical model was presented first time for computing the effective

electro-thermo- elastic properties of a unidirectional PFRC lamina with the poling and electric

field applied normal to the fiber direction.

G) The most accurate global as well as local layerwise response of hybrid laminated structures can

be obtained by the exact analytical solution of the equations of three dimensional (3D)

piezoelasticity. In this direction, benchmark analytical 3D piezoelasticity solutions for the static

and dynamic response of simply-supported hybrid cylindrical shells of revolution and shell

panels integrated with monolithic piezoelectric or PFRC layers are presented.

H) Two-dimensional static and analytical solution of Levy-type rectangular hybrid plates is also

developed based on a recently developed coupled efficient layerwise zig-zag theory.

I) Two-dimensional static solution for all round arbitrary supported plates are also developed

using the EKM method. These solutions can act as benchmarks to assess numerical solutions.

J) Dynamic analysis of piezoelectric based energy harvester is developed which may help to

develop prototype models for energy harvesting purpose.

K) Recently received the Young Engineer Award from INAE -2017.

L) The above developments will help in designing and developmental phase of components in

aerospace, civil, consumer products and medical science field which in turn help to make better

products under Make in India scheme.
