Page 2: BioCor® ‐ Technical Presentation · BioCor® An example: In industrial safety, we refer to acute toxic level. Accordingly, a person who weighs 75 kg can take in the following quantities

1998 ‐ 2000 MB based on secondary amines and fatty acidBut already without nitrite

2000 ‐ 2001 Integration of surfactants and other substances in the formula to prevent a film of dust

2001 ‐ 2002 Optimization of the formula, substitute secondary amines and fatty acid byprimary amines and organic fatty acids

2002 ‐ 2003 Development of a high‐temperature resistant Masterbatch for VCI Stretch (blown film)

2003 – 2005 Any components of the MB which can generate a film of dust weresubstituted. The optimized formula offer a better corrosion protection, lesssmell und less emission of smoke at extrusion

Continuous developmentMasterbatches (MB) secure our success:

Page 3: BioCor® ‐ Technical Presentation · BioCor® An example: In industrial safety, we refer to acute toxic level. Accordingly, a person who weighs 75 kg can take in the following quantities

2005 ‐ 2007 Development of a MB free of amines but also with better multi‐metalprotection.

2007 ‐ 2008 Development of a MB especially for cast material

2008 ‐ 2009 Development of MB for VCI Stretch (Cast film)

2009 ‐ 2011 Development of MB for real multi‐metal protection(Steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, aluminum alloy, copperand copper alloy, brass, cast iron, silver, tin, nickel, magnesium)

2011 ‐ Today Introduction of MB 311, approved for direct contact with food. Free of aminesnitrite, pleasant smell also in extrusion.Total multi‐metal protection, extrusion possible until 300°C and additionally toPE also  applicable for PP, PVC and PS.

BioCor® ‐ We Care

Industrial health and safety aspects

Responsibility:

• If it can be done better we must also do it better

• For the people who have to workwith our materials

• For our customers' customers

• For the assets with which we are entrusted

• For the environment, nature and resources

BioCor®An example:In industrial safety, we refer to acute toxic level.Accordingly, a person who weighs 75 kg can take in the following quantitiesbefore suffering injury:

Conventional VCI substances

Dibuthylamine 14g

Butylamine 27g

Benzotriazole 37g

Trimethyl hexanoic acid 87g

Diethanolamine 112g

Dodecanedioic acid 225g

BioCor 311 HP

Concentrate (master batch) 273g

Polyethylene 375g

BioCor VCI film 371g

Foodstuffs

Alcohol (pure) 105g

Table salt 150g

Vitamin B 277g

BioCor® is greatly supported by:

• Institutes concerned with food legislation regulations

• The German workers insurance BGHM:translated quotation: “with the amine‐ and nitrite‐free BioCor VCI film MetProachieve an important contribution to improve the conditions in the working areas by elimination of Nitrosamines, as it is claimed in the TRGS 615 and recommended by the Employers' Liability Insurance Association.”

• Polyethylene extruders, who have complained about unpleasant smells for years and who did not want to use VCI films in the production of films for foods.

• IKS, who according to its own statement has never before seen such excellent corrosion protection properties in this form

• The metalworking industry, as this considerably improved industrial health aspects, precautions and motivation of employees

Responsible corrosion protection

Page 8: BioCor® ‐ Technical Presentation · BioCor® An example: In industrial safety, we refer to acute toxic level. Accordingly, a person who weighs 75 kg can take in the following quantities

Traditional VCI‐Technology

• Contains amines • Often contains nitrites• Contains Benzotriazole• Critical workers´ insurance implications • Frequently gives unpleasant odour• Allergic reactions are subject to scrutiny

by occupational health authorities• Not food contact approved• Specific TRGS is necessary (TRGS 615)

• Corrosion protection grades 2‐2,6 with 100 to 60 µm film

• Encourages ageing of the carrier film

BIOCOR‐VCI‐Technology

• Amine‐free• Nitrite‐free• Benzotriazole free• Not critical regarding workers insurance

Natural extracts produce pleasant odour• No allergic reactions observed

• Approved for direct food contact• TRGS 615 is not applicable: BioCor is

amine‐free• Corrosion‐protection grades 2,0

with just 4% MB dosage for 80 µm• No amines present: polymer

crystallisation avoided.
