    • The synopsis of the idea is that we aim to turn ucooking oil into biodiesel.

    • This is possible, at a scientic level, because thepresent in waste vegetable oil can, with the helpalcohol and a catalyst, be converted into employ

fats in the form of biodiesel.• This biodiesel easily replaces regular diesel as fu

    the automobiles.

    • Apart from tremendous prot prospects this has essentially two fold environmental benet.

    Pro%t Prospe&ts

At present, there are about 800,000 to 1,000,000 estimated restandia.

    • According to a study, the average fast food !oint in the "nited #tadiscards about $000 litres of cooking oil per month.

    • n ndia, apart from the registered restaurants, there are many strstalls that heavily rely on oil, like kachoris and samosas and manyindustries like bhu!iyas that use and discard waste vegetable oil b

    • All this can add up to a lot of raw material wasted.

    • To avoid this, we can turn the discarded oil into biodiesel.

    • This leads to cheap raw material, if not free and greatly increasesmargins.

    • Also, an important by%product of biodiesel production is glycerinealso be bottled and sold.

&irstly, we are saving the environment by prevendisposal of waste oil.

    • The most important thing to consider is that ourmaterial is waste vegetable oil, a commodity thahave otherwise ended up down the drain.

    • #econdly, biodiesel on combustion gives lessenvironmentally ha'ardous chemicals and less tgases.

    • This prevents a lot of stress on the environment occurs due to highly polluting automobile e(hau

#ome gures that might interest you)6very year, the daily consumptionof crude oil in ndia increases by anaverage of 7%8. 9e aim to replacesome of the e(pensive crude oilwith homemade and environment

friendly biodiesel.&or 401, the use per day was $0:thousand barrels as opposed to ;5in 1:80.At the same rate of increase, therewill be at least $$0 thousand

    barrels per day by 401;. This is a ro(imatel $;5 5$0 000

    • #ince there are at least 800,000restaurants which output 1;7liters of waste vegetable oil per

day, this means we have1,;00,000 liters of rawmaterial.

    • This translates to 10;,880,000liters of biodiesel made per day.

    • This means about 40 of thedaily crude oil consumption can

    be replaced by eco%friendlybiodiesel.

    • Also, the more all of us preferbiodiesel, the more we cancontribute in creating an eco

    friendly environment.

There are two alternative ways to produce biodiethey are not as cost e@ective as using waste vegoil.

    • #ome prevalent algae like Chlorella and Dunaliebe converted into biodiesel with the help of

transesterication process.• This is a widespread and easily employable tech

    • #ome plants like atropha can yield oil that can be(tracted and converted into biodiesel.

    • The process includes mi(ing of alcohols, acids a

The main problem is that, since there are no laws in ndiathe saturated fat content of fried food, some restaurantsdhabas reuse their oil.

    • This reduces the viability of waste vegetable oil as raw mbecause it reduces the fat content.

    • To solve this, laws should be made about the saturated f

content of food. This will resolve two issues.1. The increasing health problems in ndia related to obes

as high cholesterol and heart problems can be curbed.

    4. The restaurants will be compelled to discard their oil, wmeans more raw material for us.

    Con&l#sion

    • The tremendous prot margins and gains in thisindustry were one of our most pronounced motivfor entering it.

    • -owever, we are more focused on the bettermenenvironment as we know it as well as the health

society.• 9e can be self reliable and reduce the pressure

government for import duty on petroleum.

    • 9e would like to conclude on the thought that thof biodiesel is e(tremely important to add years

    lives of our descendants.
