❖ About

▪ Olive Ridley Turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) comes under the Vulnerable IUCN RED list

▪ 972 km long coastline of Andhra Pradesh state of India houses 9 ORT breeding grounds

▪ NTPC’s Simhadri plant operates 40 km away from one of these breeding grounds

▪ In 2010 conservation program was started by Andhra Pradesh Forest Department

❖ Initiatives by NTPC

▪ Signed a five-year agreement for conservation with AP Forest Department in 2016

▪ Committed US $ 0.63 Million to support to the conservation initiatives

▪ Supported forest department in

▪ Creating awareness within community along the coastal areas

▪ Identification of important nesting beaches

▪ Development of hatcheries and ensuring their security
