PROJECT 5 _ Extraction of planar relief into the compositional masses

Using your planar relief models you now have to extract a series of connected solids. -  You need to consider what these volumes can be in

three dimensions. -  You may refer back to your painting and use

reference to shading to determine if a volume is flat or curved.

-  You may repeat objects that you consider to be important. You may scale objects up if they are in the foreground or background.

-  You create a set of rules and a rationale for your decisions.

-  You may refer back to your painting and use reference to shading to determine if a volume is flat or curved.

So this object you could consider as curved ‘soft’ object

You may consider this curved as it looks like a bottle

By making the volumes and suspending them in a frame you will begin to explore the relationship of volume, space and void.

Suprematism -  Suprematism was the invention of

Russian artist Kazimir Malevich -  Suprematism was one of the earliest

and most radical developments in abstract art

-  The name comes from Maleviches belief that Suprematist art would be superior to all art of the past

-  Heavily influenced by avant-garde poets, and an emerging movement in literary criticism, Malevich derived his interest in flouting the rules of language

-  Communist authorities later attacked the movement, its influence was pervasive in Russia in the early 1920s, and it was important in shaping Constructivism, just as it has been in inspiring abstract art and architecture to this day.
