Executive SummaryWelcome to On Location!Hello! My name is Brad Giha, and I am the Project Manager for the new Biomat USA Center in Flint, Michigan. I would also like to introduce our Field Manager for the project, Dan Faulkner. Dan and I bring a combined 45 plus years of construction experience to this project.
This project is nearing its fourth month of construction and is progressing nicely. Over the past months we have completed a multitude of activities, but there is much more to come.
I am excited to see this project progress, and I know with all the hard work of Ackal Architects, Biomat USA, Bio Design and Elzinga & Volkers we will be successful!
Thank you for all of your support and coordination during these initial months of construction. There will be exciting changes happening every day on the project, so keep your eyes open for the next issue of Brick by Brick!

Meet Your Team!
Name: Brad GihaRole: Project ManagerDid you know? Brad started his career in construction over 10 years ago as a carpenter!
Name: Dan FaulknerRole: Field ManagerDid you know? When Dan started his construction career 35 years ago, he hung wall cabinets in his home...upside down! The worst part was, his wife (who had no construction experience) is the one who brought it to his attention!
SPOTLIGHT ON SAFETYAn estimated 2.3 million construction workers, or 65% of the construction industry, work on scaffolds. Protecting workers from scaffold-related accidents may prevent some of the 4,500 injuries and 60 deaths every year. Faulty design and inadequate construction are sometimes involved, but in most cases, scaffold accidents are caused by careless maintenance and improper use. On our site, we ensure scaffolding safety by:
» Performing daily inspections prior to use
» Boarding, fencing and fastening all platforms
» Avoiding a stockpile of materials or overloading them
» Forbidding their use during storms or high winds
» Clearing the area surrounding the scaffolding

SUBCONTRACTOR SPOTLIGHT
Sanilac Steel, Inc. A special thanks to Sanilac Steel for their strong presence at the beginning of this project. We appreciate their partnership and hard work! So far in the project they have excelled at the following:
» Top notch safety
» Taking pride in their work
» Quick installation and turnaround of the steel
The Look Ahead With the lovely Michigan winter we are having in the area, we are currently focusing on the interior portion of construction. This week we are working on HVAC duct runs as well as electrical conduits and other interior MEP work. Soon we will start our interior lay-out and framing. We have high hopes of a break in the weather over the next week so we can get the roof completed and RTUs set. Stay tuned as the project progresses!
